Locked On Suns - Daily Podcast On The Phoenix Suns

We head back into the Twitter mailbag for a special trade deadline preview edition, using your questions to dissect the Suns’ options ahead of the Feb. 7 deadline.

The Suns could upgrade at point guard early if they have a target in mind now, or hold pat and use bigger salaries like T.J. Warren and Ryan Anderson to grab future assets.

We also break news on the Suns’ scouting situation, their valuation of Lonzo Ball and how they plan to use Anderson’s contract this summer.

We break down the reported “mutual interest” between Lonzo Ball and the Suns before finishing up our Second Trimester Report Cards looking back at Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges two thirds of the way through their rookie seasons.

Ball’s fit alongside Devin Booker is exciting and he could at a more reasonable price than the Suns’ other options. But can he fix his shooting problems?

Looking back at the past two months or so for Ayton and Bridges, we saw each hit their own rookie wall and suffer through inconsistent stretches. Listen for how our opinions have changed 53 games into their careers.

Looking back at the two-thirds point in the Suns’ season, we give out grades to three members of the team’s young core in Part One of the Second Trimester Report Cards.

Starting with the backcourt, we take a look at the development and statistics of De’Anthony Melton, Josh Jackson and Devin Booker and how they project moving forward.

Listen to the end for our final grades for each player and why they earned the grade.

We break down the Suns’ agonizing 126-124 last-second loss to Rudy Gay and the Spurs, their third loss at the buzzer in January.

Despite the misfortune of Gay’s shot going in over great defense from Mikal Bridges, Phoenix should feel great about how they played. The Suns shot 60 percent from the field and closed the game with a miniature lineup featuring Kelly Oubre Jr. at center.

Devin Booker also turned in a highlight-reel performance, scoring 38 points on 14-19 shooting in one of his best games of the year.

We break down the tough losses in Denver and Los Angeles, with frustrations mounting toward a players-only meeting in Denver on Friday night after the Suns’ worst loss of the year. Currently on pace for 18 wins, where do the Suns go from here?

Plus, Anthony Davis is officially on the trade block, whether the Pelicans like it or not. Davis and his agent Rich Paul (you know him) have asked New Orleans to trade the star big man ASAP. Do the Suns have a competitive package? Is it worth it? If not, where does AD land?

We are joined by Michael Pina of VICE Sports, who has written about Josh Jackson and T.J. Warren at length over the course of the season to break down the Suns’ young wing rotation — their development, their fit together and their future.

Plus, stay tuned till the end for Pina’s thoughts on the Suns’ rebuild and who he would target as the team’s point guard this summer in free agency.

On today’s episode of Locked On Suns, we come to you live from Talking Stick Resort Arena to recap the Suns’ 120-106 loss at home to the Portland Trail Blazers with our usual free throws, flagrant fouls, and stats to watch.

Even though Devin Booker was on fire in the first quarter, it didn’t matter much as nobody else really stepped up around him plus Portland outmuscled Phoenix on the glass big-time.

Kelly Oubre Jr. continues to be a valuable bench spark plug with another solid outing tonight, but why isn’t he in the starting lineup? Listen in to find out if we agree with starting Josh Jackson over Oubre Jr.

For our 400th episode extravaganza, we give you our foolproof 100 percent correct no doubt about it plans to fix the Suns. From hiring a general manager to signing a point guard, we break it all down.

Then, a recap of the $230 million proposal that was passed by Phoenix City Council on Wednesday night to renovate Talking Stick Resort Arena.

We react to the Woj Bomb declaring Mike Conley and Marc Gasol available, why Conley is such a great fit with the Suns and what a trade could look like with Memphis.

Then, we break down the Suns’ 118-91 loss to Minnesota at home, specifically what led to Devin Booker’s ejection in the third quarter. Before Booker became a meme, he played a quiet game and looked off from the start. Then he got into a fight with Timberwolves big man Gorgui Dieng and nearly fought him in the bowels of Talking Stick Resort Arena before security intervened.

It was an embarrassing situation within an embarrassing loss.
