For a cost of only $40 Billion, California set out to build a high-speed railway from San Francisco and Sacramento to Los Angeles. The opening date? Well, it was supposed to be 2020. Now, the cost of the project has ballooned to more than $100 Million and won't open until 2030... with the system not being fully operational until 2050.
