Does this sound familiar? You have been working towards leaving a lasting impact but are struggling to make progress. Maybe you've been told to focus solely on leaving a legacy, but deep down, you know there is more to it than that. You want to create something that will stand the test of time, something that will make a difference for generations to come. The pain of feeling like you're not making a significant impact can be overwhelming. But the good news is, you're not alone, and there is a better way. In this episode, we explore the importance of creating a meaningful heritage alongside a legacy, and how it can lead to a lasting impact.
About George Steiner:
George Steiner has worked in Russia since 1991, with the International Bible Society, Children’s HopeChest, and now Orphan’s Tree. In his role, he provides vision and leadership for the ministry. Group homes, ministry centers, peer-to-peer mentorship, and foster care initiatives, among other programs, have been birthed through his vision and under his leadership. In addition to managing staff, every year George participates in a trip with U.S. church volunteers, working directly with orphans to retain close contact with the ministry audience. He also is the lead staff member for major donor relations.
Born into a missionary family, George has always been interested in people of different cultures. He graduated from Oral Roberts University with a degree in sociology and business administration and began working in fund development. He continued this until his work took him to the USSR. On numerous visits, he witnessed the hundreds of thousands of children lost in the orphanage system during the transition from the USSR to the Russian Federation. Burdened by the overall needs of orphans, he founded Children’s HopeChest in 1994 to serve the needs of institutionalized orphans. Seeing changing orphan care needs, George established Orphan’s Tree in 2008 to assist in creating healthy families for older orphans and to help break their orphan cycle.
