  • Legal Talk - Whatsapp in the Workplace

LEGAL TALK – WHATSAPP IN THE WORKPLACE

Great pleasure to welcome back to the show - a legal expert from Schoeman Law Incorporated – offering experience in a wide range of legal areas. Today we want to talk about the use of Whatsapp in the Workplace. With more and more of us either working from home or opting for a hybrid working model, one of the difficulties we face is how to separate work time from home time. How do you leave the office when you never actually leave the office? And specifically, how does that apply to the use of communication tools that keep you in touch with the office? Joining us on the line is Kavita Kooverjee, a Senior Professional Assistant at Schoeman Law Incorporated

  • On the Couch - Carte Blanche - Frontline Trauma

    CARTE BLANCHE – TRAUMA

Lots to talk about from last night’s Carte Blanche show but the segment that really stood out for me was the one following a team of doctors through a weekend night shift at the Mitchells Plain Hospital. We’re all acutely aware of how many doctors are struggling with burnout due to the chronic under-staffing issues in our public sector – but to witness first hand what their job entails on an average evening, was pretty scary.

    HEALTH - CORD BLOOD

July is Cord Blood Awareness Month, so we thought we’d take some time today to reflect on the possibilities of cord blood banking. For those who aren’t familiar, that’s the process of harvesting stem cells from the umbilical cord at the time of a child’s birth, in case they have need of them for medical purposes later in life.

  • Book Club - Afterwards by Charlotte Leonard

Our Book Club selection today is a book that sounds like it ought to be terribly depressing, but really isn’t . It’s called Afterwards, and it’s a novel about dealing with grief, and specifically the grief and guilt that come after a loss through suicide. But while that might seem like grim subject matter, this book is actually very uplifting, because ultimately it is a story of hope and of new beginnings.

  • On the couch - Sport shoe designer

A few weeks ago a local specialist sport shoe retailer contacted me, very excited to tell me about the development of a new proudly South African specialist running shoe for hard- core runners. It’s an amazing achievement, he told me, for a local supplier to take on the big international players
