Macabre London

On a drizzly June morning in 1982, the silhouette of a man was seen hanging partly submerged in the river Thames from the underside of Blackfriars Bridge right in the heart of London’s busy financial district.

Initially this looked like someone had tragically decided to end their own life but on closer inspection, the body held some strange clues to its demise.

Was this man there because he’d decided to kill himself? Or had he been murdered?

Today on macabre London, we uncover the story of Roberto Calvi, God’s Banker.

On the 27th of March 1997 a bizarre tragedy occurred. 39 bodies were found inside a San Diego mansion. All laid out the same way and all seemingly departed the world in the exact same manner.

this was no mass murder but instead a group known as Heaven's Gate who had all decided to check out early to catch a lift on a passing spaceship.

The cult which was founded in the 1970's amassed a huge amount of followers and ran for many years but when they only had a few members left, they decided that they would leave this world all together.

On todays episode we discover some very strange activities in the form of somnambulism - that's sleepwalking to you and I.

We look at how my idle scrolling through TikTok led me to  @Celina SpookyBoo  and how this sparked my mind into discovering the darker side of sleepwalking.

This episode is best enjoyed with the accompanying YouTube video so you can see some footage of Celina's incredible sleepwalking!

https://youtu.be/HFOpyOd9W4w

I delve into the first ever case that used the 'homicidal sleepwalking' defence; The Boston Tragedy - the murder of Mary Ann Bickford by Thomas Boshears.

I look at the sleepwalking defence backfiring in the case of Scott Falater and the curious case of Kenneth Parks who seemingly managed to wipe out his inlaws all whilst claiming to be asleep before driving to a police station to immediately turn himself in.

All pretty scary stuff!

Join me as I tell you another Macabre Mini Mystery from around the world!

On a summers evening in 1910, a man was found bleeding to death in the yard of his ex girlfriends flat.

Extraordinarily this man was the son of the man who found him but he failed to recognise him despite standing over him, nursing him whilst he drew his final breath.

This unsolved cold case is not one you'll have heard of, but do you think you'd be able to solve it if the evidence was accessible to you?

On todays episode we discover some very strange happenings in Fayetteville North Carolina. When a devastating but seemingly normal house fire took shelves of five innocent children, the remaining six family members had a lot of questions but very few answers.

The strange occurrences surrounding the fire and a few rogue characters who popped up along the way, also have a long way to go in explaining themselves.
