Have you ever run a competition in your business only for it to absolutely bomb, or you ran a competition, received a ton or entrants only to gain zero clients or customers afterward.
Or maybe just the thought of running a competition for your business has you running to the hills.
Anyone can run a competition, but running a competition with purpose and thinking strategically about why you are running a competition is a whole different ball game.
And that’s exactly what we’re going to be talking about today on the Mad Marketing Mums podcast with Suki Van K., founder of Origami Globe. We’re taking a dive into how to run a competition with purpose, what to do when your competition isn’t performing plus tips to help make your next comp a winning success.
ABOUT SUKI VAN K
Suki Van K is a speaker, author, teacher, competition strategist… and die-hard Killers fan.
Suki is the world’s first and only dedicated competition expert and strategist and it’s fair to say she is obsessed with competitions – namely sharing her knowledge and passion with business owners and marketers alike through teaching, speaking and writing about all things competitions.
Suki is Japanese/Dutch by name, English by birth and Aussie by choice – elle parle aussi couramment le français. When she’s not nerding out over competitions, you’ll find her on the beach with her rescue dog Stella, trying to get through all the books she buys then never read, or singing along at the top of her lungs to her own private Killers karaoke.

We’ve all heard it before. It’s on nearly every single marketing 101 course, website, lead magnet and even blogs and tick-tock.
The key to any successful marketing strategy is having your plan, your goals, your objectives in place first before you execute.
And more likely than not, if you’ve done that marketing 101 course, downloaded that lead magnet or read that blog, you’ve heard what a SMART goal is.
But what if we told you for B2B businesses, SMART goals are not so smart? And in fact, the way you are using these types of goals to grow your business actually could be inhibiting you from overcoming the true challenges you have that are preventing you from growth.
How to develop a killer marketing plan and why SMART goals might not be the right fit for a B2B business is exactly what we’re talking about today on this episode on Mad Marketing Mums podcast with Jade Tambini.

Your website is arguably your hardest working salesperson; Selling your products or services 24/7. It never takes sick days, or vacations and you probably only pay it once a year!
What your potential clients see, read, hear and experience during the first few minutes on your website determines whether they fall more in love with you and your business or bounce over to a competitor.

As a parent in business, you might feel the pressure to perform on the online stage, similar to how your kid might feel during their school recital. They sort of know the steps, they know they have to do this dance, but they might not feel like they deserve a spot on stage because their routine isn’t perfect or as good as other kids in the class.
But here's the thing: you don't have to be a flawless performer to make an impact. Just like our kids, your genuine presence can shine through. Think of it as embracing those butterflies you might have felt before going on stage at your school recital and channeling it into being your true self online, letting your online audience see the real you, a business owner with your own special skills and insights.
Embracing and allowing your true self to shine, you can create a genuine connection with your online community, just as our kids captivate the audience with their heartfelt performances is what we’ll be talking about with our guest, Lisa.
In this episode we’re going to cover:

Have you ever worked with the wrong client? It can be painful for all involved when there’s a clash in values, working style or personal boundaries.
This problem is common among service providers (especially early on in their business) who may, despite the red flags, proceed to work with wrong-fit clients for financial reasons or due to a lack of confidence to push back when it doesn’t feel right - resulting in feeling drained, wasted time, or reputational damage.
This episode kicks off with an anonymous post Clem saw in a Facebook group from a freelancer who has found herself in a position where her personal values clash with those of her client. She now faces the dilemma of whether or not to continue working with said client.
So how did it get to this point? And, more importantly, how can this be avoided?
This episode covers some of the ways you can pre-qualify potential clients with your content and application process to avoid clashes in values, budget, and personality and set realistic expectations for your future working relationships.
