The Southend Community Centre is launching a free para tae kwon do program in Sydney to try and enable more people to try the sport.

Noelle Wadden a music teacher at Glace Bay High School joins the show to talk about the song her students wrote. The song honours Phyllis Webstad's orange shirt journey. At the age of 6, Webstad wore a bright orange shirt on her first day at a residential school in 1973. The shirt was taken from her when she got to school. September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children, and as an affirmation to remember that every child matters. After writing the song, the students from Glace Bay High School performed it for students at Allison Bernard Memorial High school in Eskasoni.

The first cohort of the Cape Breton Artpreneur program wrapped up in Glace Bay. The program welcomes young artists, ages 18-22, to learn basic business skills. It's a paid program for young artists in any discipline. Dylan Buchanan and Matthew Nicholson are musicians who just graduation from the program, Cynthia Lahey is the lead facilitator, they joined Mainstreet.

After more than 15 years, the YMCA has announced - it's closing its branch in Port Hawkesbury. It will close for good on February 22. Andre Gallant, CEO of the Y in Cape Breton says they aren't making enough revenue to support their expenses.

A Halifax man was driving in the Cape Breton Highlands hoping to take in the beauty... he instead came face to face with a Moose in a tragic way. The encounter led the man to the home of a local who offered some help to the man.
