The idea for Hairless Dog Brewing Co. occurred, appropriately, over a cup of coffee. Jeff Hollander and Paul Pirner had been friends for many years but had recently reconnected at a holiday party at which both were abstaining. Though the pair had been fans of the craft beer scene, they realized that there really wasn’t much to enjoy in the NA realm so they decided to rectify that and started Hairless Dog Brewing.

Ryan Rosenthal and Mike von Fange, left their jobs to pursue a convenience store model that stocked, healthy, nutritious, convenient foods including prepared soups and salads.
Simpls Minneapolis was born to be the 7-Eleven for the healthy, organic, and local sustainable foodie. Eventually, they expanded to three locations, including one in the downtown Minneapolis Target and one at the University of Minnesota.
Then came COVID, and like every other food business, they had to, re-evaluate how and what they were going to do. because their business was asked to close by the Governor of Minnesota and the workers and students were all staying home. After some scrambling, a soup subscription business was born.
Hear their story of Simpls survival on this episode of @Makersofmn.

Sunrise Flour Mill mills heritage wheat superior stone-ground flours grew out of a love of bread by founders Darrold and Marty Glanville from North Branch Minnesota.
In retirement, Darrold decided he wanted to branch out into bread baking. He was trying to recreate the wonderful European bread he and Marty had eaten on their travels. He wanted whole wheat and the first 6 months saw most of the bread go in the trash as hard, tasteless, and pretty much inedible. The more we looked into the history of modern flour milling and bread making, the more convinced we became that it was time to return to the basics.
Thus Sunrise Flour Mills Heritage wheat flour was born. These flours aren’t just for those who experience problems with gluten. Many people use Heritage Wheat because it truly tastes like wheat and results in delicious pastries, loaves of bread, pasta, and pizza.

DJ and Anastasia Bocchetti have been making hot sauce since 2017 when Lost Capital Foods was born. Lost Capital Foods slowly ferments peppers, primarily sourced from local farms to create bold, complex flavors and textures. Lost Capital makes everything by hand in small batches and with total disregard for our financial stability, from their kitchen in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. Lost Capital packs more produce into each bottle of sauce, using less water and vinegar than your usual hot sauce to achieve flavors not often found in a bottled product.
