  • Episode 55: Curiosity As Your Guide, Knowing Yourself And How To Make Meaningful Decisions With Sophie Scott
From acting to psychotherapy to creating a never-done-before wellness publication, Sophie Scott has navigated plenty of decisions in her life.

Throughout all of these turning points she says her curiosity has led the way and kept her connected to her sense of purpose. She’s determined to empower people connect to their own meaning and to know and look after themselves better.

Sophie has lead BALANCE into the top percentile of UK circulations within a few years. She regularly advises brands on go-to-market strategy and delivers wellness workshops for the likes of L’Oreal, Mediacom and Accenture. She has coached and mentored at every level, from students no longer in employment, education or training, through to Fortune 500 CEOs. And, she’s also a Psychotherapist!

Sophie is open and honest about how she approaches wellness in her life, and despite founding an incredible wellness business she’s upfront about what her “real life” looks like and what she does to keep looking after her self (it might not be what you think).

We talk about how all those dots connected for her, why sometimes the toughest moments are there to show us our purpose, and how to tell the difference between anxiety and fear. And plenty more. This episode is full of heart and full of tips to keep discovering more of who you are.

Once you’ve listened, Sophie and I would love to hear from you! Be sure to tag us both @sophie.b.scott and @thedaisypatchcoaching on Instagram and share one thing you took away from this conversation.

  • Episode 54: Holding both the positive and the negative emotions all at once
I shared this blog post a few months ago about me sitting on my couch in the full sunshine feeling so calm and peaceful, only to be interrupted by this gross sewerage smell.

I wanted to get all irritated, frustrated and angry about it. Quickly my mood and emotional response was shifting from calm and peaceful to cranky.

I realised that I could have both. I could feel a bit frustrated and also still maintain that sense of peacefulness. I couldn’t not feel happy sitting in the sun, and yet there was still some discomfort.

In this episode I share 5 strategies for holding all the emotions – the positive and the negative – at the same time. Our emotions are how we experience our life. The more we can welcome in all of them the fuller our lives become. And I know that’s what you want for yourself. It’s also a topic Nancy Jane Smith and I dive into in more detail on her podcast The Happier Approach. Look out for the episode later this month. And in the meantime come sign up for my emails to get all the extra details (I promise my emails will make you feel good). >>> www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/weekly.

  • Episode 53: How To Have Your Own Back And Mindset Shifts, With Halima Salim
I am fascinated by stories. How people connect the dots from seemingly unrelated parts of their journey. And how they choose to create something that feels joyful and fulfilling to them in their lives.

Halima Salim is an inspiring example of choosing curiosity and gratitude above all else. Somalian by birth, moving to the UK as a refugee at age nine, with no prior schooling – Halima went on to be the first in her family to graduate from university. She’s taught English for over ten years, and built an incredibly successful and engaged following (of over 25,000 followers) in two years.

We talk a lot about how important it is to “take full responsibility” for your life, what that really means, and how to develop a stronger relationship with yourself.

Halima has recently launched a new business venture, supporting other online businesses to build and create engaged communities, harnessing the power of social media. Her eagerness to keep pushing her own boundaries, to implement fast change for herself and prioritise her mindset is magnetic.

  • Episode 52: How Can I Build Confidence In Myself?
I got asked this question recently. And it’s a common theme in many of my coaching sessions – how can we feel more confident in our lives? For me, confidence is much more about creating a sense of certainty within ourselves. Rather than it being a skill that we need to ‘develop’. Confidence comes from knowing yourself, and (yep, I’m saying it again!) how things make you feel. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “I need to be more confident” this episode will give you a new perspective for creating that change.

  • Episode 51: Finding What Fills Your Heart And Loving Yourself, With Marta Perales
Marta Perales made me smile from the moment I first had contact with her. She responded to a message I left in a business group I’m part of so promptly and with so much joy it was infectious.

Having left a successful corporate career in IT, Marta returned to a hobby that had been along her side for almost 20 years. Taking what she says “filled her heart” and creating a photography business.

In this episode she shares a powerful story about how even though she was following her heart, she hadn’t fully allowed herself to be seen. And how it took a lot of bravery to see herself as beautiful.

Now she creates stunning boudoir photos to support women to see themselves in a way they’ve never seen before – and to realise too, that they’re already beautiful.

We talk about that craving for wanting more in your life, finding the things that excite you, and not letting comparison get in the way.

  • Episode 50: Managing Changes More Effectively
Today’s episode was inspired by me having freezing cold hands and needing to go and put my big fluffy dressing gown on before hitting record. Ever noticed how we keep pushing ourselves to keep going, despite how we’re feeling? You could be freezing but you don’t stop what you’re doing to put on an extra layer. This is how we approach our lives at times too. We want to rush through any big changes and have everything “fixed” without allowing ourselves the spaciousness to transition fully. How we handle the transitions in our life – big or small – has an impact on our mental, emotional and physical health. I’m talking about how you can invite a more sustainable approach into your life, one that doesn’t leave you completely burnt out and exhausted at the end of each day of work.

  • Episode 49: Experience Over Stuff And Changing Your Beliefs To Live More Freely With Genevieve Parker Hill
A creative introvert who loves people. I can certainly identify with that. It’s how this week’s guest, Genevieve Parker Hill, describes herself and there’s something so enticing about it to me. We’ve known each for over three years and have worked closely on our businesses, shared vulnerable truths about growth and failures and personal dreams – and yet, we hadn’t sat down for coffee yet. That’s how our conversations go and you’ll get a taste of the depth and magic in this one today.

Genevieve wrote an Amazon bestselling book about minimalism after family home burnt down, but really it’s the story about her grandmother and why she really wrote it that reveals so much. About her deep intention to nurture joy and gratitude in her life. We talk about how to make things feel easy, changing deeply ingrained belief systems (aka standing up for what you really want), and getting to a place where you get to define yourself. Her latest book, Experience Over Stuff, focuses on the inner journey first as a way to live a more simple, joyful, and purposeful life that is truly unique to you. As a listener to the Let It Shine podcast, I know that is what you want too.

  • Episode 48: A strategy for shaking off indecision and feeling good about yourself
I shared this strategy in my Joy Club recently for shaking off that stuck, indecisive feeling. And, the really cool side effect? It also makes you feel really good.

You’ve likely read about the value of cultivating a practice of gratitude in your life. And you probably even do “something” to bring in more appreciation. Maybe you journal, or say your three gratitudes at the dinner table each night.

Have you paid attention to how it makes you feel when you do so? Research shows the positive impact gratitude has on our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

What if I told you there was an amplification to this practice? Something that could help shake off that indecision and get you feeling really really good about yourself?

When we feel good about ourselves, we also fuel our self-esteem and self-confidence. I’m sharing this 1 strategy in this episode. Can’t wait to hear how what you discover after giving it a go in your own life.

  • Episode 47: Going Against The Grain And Trusting In Your Dreams, With Sheila Botelho
If you’ve ever felt like you’re trying to fit in with what everyone else is doing around you, this episode could be exactly what you need to hear today.

Sheila Botelho describes herself as someone who has always “gone against the grain”. She married, but chose to wait longer to have children, she chose self-employment at time where it just wasn’t the thing to do, and she chose to homeschool her kids.

Sheila is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, online entrepreneur, and business mentor who teaches people how to thrive in their health and lifestyles.

For more than 20 years she’s run an international wellness business with her husband, and is on a mission to support women to prioritise self-care, access their strength and live with purpose.

If you’re cringing at “self-care”, don’t worry I’ve got you covered! Sheila and I break down what it really means and why how she refers to it is much more about creating transformations in your life. We also talk about accessing an energy of confidence, staying connected to your inner feelings, and trusting your dreams.

I couldn’t help but feel calm after recording this episode with Sheila. And I have no doubt some of that will rub off on you too.

  • Episode 46: How To Not Get Swept Up In Others’ Emotions
I got asked this question recently and realised it comes up a lot in different ways. How do we not get swept up by how others are feeling around us? Whether it’s their grumpy mood, their complaining about the boss, or even their pain and challenges they are facing. As an “empath” or highly sensitive person, I’ve spent most of my life deeply feeling everything around me. From worrying about the elderly lady struggling up the stairs, to taking on the pain and discomfort of loved ones with the velocity of it being my own. I’ve come to realise that it’s not necessary (nor possible) to own someone else’s emotions. In fact, it’s an endless battle that’ll just leave you depleted and unable to support and hold space in the way you so lovingly want to. Today’s episode is all about what you can do with those emotions, how to process them and how to create boundaries that protect your energy so that you can stay in a grounded, loving, creative space.
