  • 300 - When your kid uses a swear word correctly

    Sh*t!

Have your kids used a curse word in the correct context? I'm not going to lie, I'm a little impressed when this happens.

There are many possible battles to fight every single day. My kids swearing (unless its the F word) aren't really a battle I choose to fight...especially when it's used correctly.

What battles do you choose to fight. You only have so much energy. What battles are important to you.

Choose where you want to pull out your sword and the rest lay the sword down and maybe laugh at it a little.

  • 299 - "... Only they (mothers) understood the epic nature of your trivial achievements."

"The only recognition you got for surviving a night like that came from other mothers. Only they understood the epic nature of your trivial achievements."
    - Liane Moriarty from Apples Never Fall

Getting the laundry done, dishes put away, lunches packed, taking care of a sick kid...all while on very little sleep.

Some of the mom accomplishments and achievements sound so trivial. They are just everyday things that we get done. When you get these things done and you do them well despite the obstacles that is something to celebrate.

Often only those that have been in our shoes or are currently in the same situation as us can relate and don't see these trivial wins as "trivial."

Share and celebrate your mom wins today with moms who understand how big that win is!

  • 297 - "You can be doing the best you can right now, while also striving to do better."

"You can be doing the best you can right now, while also striving to do better."
    - Dr. Ross Ellenhorn How We Change (And Ten Reasons Why We Don't)

    Special quote Tuesday!

Be the best you can today and strive to better tomorrow. You can continually get better each and every day. That doesn't take away from how great you were yesterday, it means you are improving upon yourself each day.

You can be grateful and celebrate what you have today, at this moment, and still be hungry for more in life.

There is more out there for you, Mama. You are doing your best now, AND there is so much more (and better) out there for you. It's up to you to make the decision to go get it.

  • 296 - Monday MamAffirmation: I am an amazing mom in the past, present and future

Monday MamAffirmation: I am an amazing mom in the past, present and future

Look yourself in the mirror and repeat the affirmation.

Some moms and women don't like getting older (hello 29th birthday year after year); but the cool thing about getting older is have more experience and you become more confident in yourself and your abilities.

A few years ago you were a great mom! Now you have more experience and you an even better mom. In the future you will be even more confident because of all the experience you have.

You learn more as you age. It doesn't take away how great of a person and mom you were a few years ago - it just means you were trying your best then and you are trying your best now too, you just have a bit more knowledge and confidence now thanks to past you!

Moms of multiple children often site that with each child they get a bit more confident. They didn't become a better mom by child 4 or 5, they simply had more experience and confidence.

You always have been and always will be a fantastic mom.

  • 295 - Don't miss it!

Words matter! What you say to yourself and your kids matter.

Do you focus on the negative?
    "Don't do that..."
    "Don't forget..."

Your brain (and your tiny humans' brains) can NOT process the negative. All your brain hears is the action.

When you tell your child, "Don't touch the mirror!" All their brain process is, "touch the mirror"

In softball, I used to to up to the plate and say, "Don't miss it!" What my brain heard was "miss it!"

Focus on the positives. Focus on the outcome that you want, because your brain doesn't hear the "don't" and what you focus on is what you will get.

  • 294 - "You have to think of your next move."

"Once you've hit a ball there's no point watching to see where it is going. You can't change its flight path now. You have think about your next move. Not what you should have done. What you do now."
-Liane Moriarty from Apples Never Fall

What is a decision, situation or person you are holding onto from the past? You can't change the past, but you can plan you next move. You can make the next best decision. You take responsibility for it and move on to the next decision.

In sports you are taught to "shake it off." If you continue to focus on the previous play you can't put your energy and concentration into the rest of the game.

In softball (and baseball) when you hit the ball, you put your head down and run. You don't look to see where it goes or what the defensive players are doing, you run. Then you assess your next best move.

  • 293 - Do you WANT it or WILL you do it?

Words matter. There is a big difference between "want" and "will."

The change in this one word can make all the difference you need to take action.

Wanting to do something, you aren't really making a decision. It's cool if it happens and if doesn't...whatever.

You WILL do something. You're putting that out there in the universe. You made a decision. The motivation will come to figure out how to accomplish it.

Don't want to do something...will it.

What want are you going to change to a will?

  • 292 - There's no "trying"

    There's no "trying," there's "doing."

Have  you ever found yourself saying, "I'll try to do that..." knowing very well that you aren't going to do it??

Have your kids asked you to do something and you respond, "Yeah, we'll try..." and you know darn well you aren't trying?!?!

    You aren't alone.

But if there is something you really want to do, that your kids really want to accomplish; then there is not trying. There is simply doing.

Take the word "try" out and replace it with "will." See the shift that happens in both you and your kids.

  • 291 - Monday MamAffirmation: I make a decision

Have you ever waivered back and forth and felt like you couldn't make a decision?

Then you feel anxiety, you're losing sleep and just plain feel stressed out?

The best way to get rid of all that angst is to make a decision! It may not be the right decision, but you make the best decision you can with the information you have. Then after that, you make the next best decision.

But the first step is actually making the decision. The motivation and illusive sign aren't coming until you make the decision.
