You want to be more present with your kids, but you can't turn your brain off!
You've tried putting the phone away to limit distraction, but you can't get rid of the thoughts in your brain.
How can you be more present with your brain simply won't shut off and allow you to be fully present.
Here's 2 ways to help you:
1. Acknowledge the thought by saying "thought."
It's like when your kid is tryin to get your attention and they say, "mom." If you don't acknowledge them, it turns into "mom, mom, mom, mom, mom..."
Acknowledge the thought, then the next one and so one. Acknowledging that it is there will help to move on from that thought.
2. Take a deep breath when the thoughts and concerns come into your mind. Relaxing your body helps to relax your mind.
Give these 2 a try, or a combination of them. See if they help you to become more present.
And like most things in life they do take practice!
