TALKING POINTS
The military model of Leadership – man, train, equip.
Manpower – attract the right people; retain experienced and capable people
Train – professional development means having basic, intermediate and advanced level of training
Equip – the right equipment to do the job

A team is always going through 4 phases of team development:
· forming
· storming
· norming
· performing.

Intelligence Collection training taught me how to be in listen mode.
Have recurring 1:1s. Ask questions. I may know the answer but I would rather they talk themselves into that solution than me just point it out to them. That's development, that's learning, that's a leader being a leader.
===
Leaders have to pay attention to 6 factors:
1. rest
2. hydration
3. nutrition
4. exercise
5. brain and heart health
6. lifelong learning.
MONO - how do these 6 things apply to me?
STEREO - how do these 6 things apply to the person sitting across the table from me?
Is that person well rested?
Is that person well hydrated?
Is that person well, nourished.
Are they thinking clearly?
SURROUND SOUND - how do I enable everybody to be well rested, well hydrated? How can I make this available to everybody?
Some leaders might say, well that's not my problem. Well, it is your problem because that person is not performing to the level you want them to perform to.

Leadership is imperfect; people are Imperfect.
A leader will make mistakes and those you lead will make mistakes. How we deal with that is what enables us to succeed.
It takes reflection, introspection or metacognition; to think about what we said or did, things that we wish we said, wouldn't have said, things we wish we hadn’t done; reflecting upon what you said, the reactions of people. If leaders aren't reflecting on the impact of their words, behavior, body language, they're not going to learn. Weaker leaders are not metacognitive.

Be conscious of who gets credit. Leaders have to give the credit to everybody except themselves.
