Steven Simpson, MD, FCCP, talks to a frontline clinician about her experience managing a COVID-19 case that was caught days after the patient was admitted to the hospital. The patient’s condition deteriorated, and the patient was transferred to the ICU and mechanically ventilated for ARDS, but COVID-19 testing was not performed initially. Once tested, results were positive for SARS COV-2, and airborne and contact precautions were put in place. (Originally recorded March 19, 2020)
