2X Olympian Donald Suxho had to risk it all to play at the Olympic level. Suffering and sacrificing from the dangers of leaving Albania, communist-controlled country to hit rock bottom and lose it all and experience what it really means to become successful.

Donald Suxho (born February 21, 1976 in Korçë, Albania) is an Albanian-American professional volleyball player and a player for the US Olympic Team. As a setter, he participated in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens, Greece as well as the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Suxho and his family came to America in 1996 and lived in Natick, Massachusetts while searching for a college. He eventually chose to play for the University of Southern California and became one of the most well known volleyball players to come out of USC.

Suxho's father Peter is the former coach of the Albanian Junior National team as well as the Natick High School boys and girls volleyball coach and it was under his tutelage in the US and Albania that Suxho learned the game. Suxho played for the Albanian junior national team from 1991 to 1996 and made the national team while still a teenager in 1995–96.

While at USC, Suxho was a four-year starter for a nationally ranked team. He set a number of Trojan records, including 164 career aces. He became one of the top players in school history and was a two-time All-American and AVAC National Player of the Year as a senior in 2000. Following graduation, he played professional beach volleyball in Poland and has been a member of the US Olympic Team since 2001. He competed in the Athens Olympics but missed Beijing due to injury. In 2012, he's one of 40 USC athletes to make an Olympic team.

  • 146: JT McCormick | Homeless, Prison, and Abuse to Multi-Millionaire
JT McCormick shouldn't have succeeded. He was born the mixed-race son of a drug-dealing pimp father and an orphaned, single mother on welfare. He was raised in the slums of Dayton, Ohio, suffered incredible abuse and racism, and had multiple stints in the juvenile justice system. He barely graduated high school and has no college degree.

    But succeed he did.

Starting by scrubbing toilets, JT hustled and worked his way into better opportunities, eventually finding incredible success in the finance and mortgage industry. He was on top of the world.

And then the mortgage industry fell apart. He lost his job, and literally all of his money. He had to borrow from his friends to make rent. He was nearly back to where he started: with nothing.

But this time, he had something that he did not have growing up in the slums of Dayton: the knowledge of what it takes to succeed. JT used this setback combined with what he learned as the springboard for him to reach even bigger heights--eventually becoming President of two multimillion-dollar companies.

Currently, JT is the President and CEO of Scribe Media. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Megan, and their three children; Ava, Jaxon, and Elle.

  • 145: Jia Jiang | Become Rejection Proof - Beat Your Fear
Jia Jiang came to the United States with the dream of being the next Bill Gates. But despite early success in the corporate world, his first attempt to pursue his entrepreneurial dream ended in rejection. Jia was crushed, and spiraled into a period of deep self doubt. But he realized that his fear of rejection was a bigger obstacle than any single rejection would ever be, and he needed to find a way to cope with being told no without letting it destroy him. Thus was born his "100 days of rejection" experiment, during which he willfully sought rejection on a daily basis--from requesting a lesson in sales from a car salesman (no) to asking a flight attendant if he could make an announcement on the loud speaker (yes) to his famous request to get Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the shape of Olympic rings (yes, with a viral video to prove it).

Jia learned that even the most preposterous wish may be granted if you ask in the right way, and shares the secret of successful asking, how to pick targets, and how to tell when an initial no can be converted into something positive. But more important, he learned techniques for steeling himself against rejection and ways to develop his own confidence--a plan that can't be derailed by a single setback. Filled with great stories and valuable insight, Rejection Proof is a fun and thoughtful examination of how to overcome fear and dare to live more boldly.

Jia Jiang is the world’s foremost expert on rejection. He is the founder and CEO of Wuju Learning, a company that trains organizations and employees to become fearless. Jia’s story started when several years after his career in the corporate world, he took a risk and stepped into the unknown world of entrepreneurship, which resulted in everyone’s biggest fear…REJECTION.

This became the catalyst that set Jia on the path to his true calling. To conquer the fear of rejection, Jia embarked on a personal quest and started a video blog to face the 100 Days of Rejection. His journey revealed a world that was hidden in plain sight, a world where rejection is an advantage instead of a setback, and where there are opportunities behind every rejection. It has become Jia’s mission to help others to discover that world for themselves.

  • 144: PickWaste | Cleaning The World One Piece of Garbage At a Time
PickWaste is a community initiative that was started out of the necessity to clean up mother earth. We make an impact by cleaning up local landscapes for one hour, once a week. It began as four young men but has quickly spread throughout the community. There are now over 200 people on our email list, and each week we clean up alongside 15-20 local volunteers. We are a team and a family, one that welcomes all members of any age.

Today I speak to Sam Demma, Dillon Mendes, and Scott Berty!

At PickWaste we know that nature and the vitality of the human species is one and the same. When we pollute Mother Nature, we are in turn causing much unnecessary suffering to ourselves.

    - The oceans we fill with chemicals is ultimately the water we will drink and the fish we will eat!
    - The air we pollute with greenhouse gases and smoke from industrial factories is ultimately the air that we will breathe in!
    - The soil we spray with pesticides and fertilizers is ultimately growing the vegetables and fruits that we will eat!

This is why we believe there are so many diseases and degenerative conditions in today's society. This is why we're so passionate about PickWaste and saving the environment, and essentially saving all of humanity!

We are big believers in starting small towards producing massive change, and there is no better way to start fixing this problem than by picking up trash. Garbage clean up is so simple, yet so effective.

Simple because everyone can participate and there are no educational requirements. Effective because the law of social proof states that when people observe others partaking in any activity they will feel more inclined to join themselves! Its these little consistent actions that will change our planet.

X-Navy Seal, William H. McRaven, said that if you do the little things right you can change your life, and then change the world. We believe that picking up garbage is the little thing that can change our community, and then the world will follow!

  • The Speed of Change Panel at Manhattan College New York City
I had the honor of speaking on a panel at Manhattan College in New York City about the speed of change of technology and mindset with a Head Director at Microsoft.

Manhattan College was founded in 1853 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Catholic teaching order started by Saint John Baptist de La Salle. The Lasallian mission drives our focus on quality education for all and service to our neighbors in need. Our picturesque campus is located in The Bronx, a 35-minute subway ride from the heart of Manhattan.

Shoutout to Raymond for inviting me and running this awesome event!
