  • Ep 66: Breaking Mental Load Down

Is Mental Load just a buzzword? Why is it important in a marriage/relationship? Why is it so overwhelming to the default partner/parent? What are some examples of minimum standard care? Why is understanding the whole process of conceiving the plan, planning the plan and executing the plan a big deal? Why is my partner pissed all the time? Why won't my partner have sex with me? This is why!

If at any point you're stressed out by all the questions I'm asking in this episode, this is exactly what is going through your partner's mind at any point of the day.

  • Ep 65: The Art of Appreciation in Marriage

In this episode, I talk in depth about the five needed attributes to really appreciate your spouse.

Do you truly accept your partner for who they are or only for who you want them to be?

Do you understand their heart? Do you know them well enough to understand their intentions versus their impact?

Do you affirm your spouse enough? Do you appreciate and affirm them for who they are or only what they do?

Are you completely honest and authentic with your partner? Do you have secrets and lies that you're wasting energy worrying if you'll be found out? Do you open up enough that your partner can fully know, accept and love you?

Do you truly forgive them for their wrongdoings, or do you rise above them and have contempt rather than true forgiveness?

Don't skip the end! I talk about the marriage retreat that I'm planning that will be in Granbury, TX August 2-3, 2024. Early bird pricing is now!

Cashapp: $KameranThompson Stress or worry cloud our daily lives, preventing us from enjoying the quality of relationships we want. This anxiety can lead to missed moments, becoming overly reactive, and a sense of isolation from the ones we care about most. But the solution is not to ignore or suppress these feelings. And simply “trying harder” using willpower never works. If you want a more present, joyful, and connected 2024, real solutions exist to leave anxiety behind.

In this episode, I interview Trevor Justice is a relationship coach specializing in anxious attachment relationship skills, as well as the author of Attract Love and Respect: 5 Ways to Be Valued in Your Relationships. He works to give people-pleasers and folks with anxious attachment styles effective language, skills, and confidence to express their needs and set boundaries, which demonstrates higher value and leads others to appreciate them more. Trevor’s mission is to help anxiously attached people feel more secure, become priorities to their partners, and receive as much as they give.

Trevor coaches me a little bit through anxious attachment triggers and scenarios. We share a few personal stories of our own anxious attachment experiences and I ask Trevor to give tips and talk deeply about how to overcome an anxious attachment and become secure. Trevor discusses self-respect, how to overcome people pleasing and develop a secure attachment within your relationship.

  • Ep 63: No One is Exempt From Abuse

TRIGGER WARNING- Divorce, DV, Abuse, Trauma

Abuse isn't talked about enough. In this solo episode, I talk about statistics surrounding abuse, types of abuse and my own story as a survivor of several kinds of abuse. I talk about divorce and how it traumatizes someone. I talk about betrayal trauma, reactive abuse and something almost no one talks about- post-separation abuse, which is how the abuse doesn't stop after you get a divorce and in fact, it may even get worse. Does that mean you should stay to avoid it? No way. But it is something that needs to be brought to people's attention. I talk about how easy it is for those who have never experienced abuse to stand on the other side of the street and judge someone for staying in an abusive relationship, how hard it is to leave and stay gone, and the mental overload of trying to heal after you've left. If you've never been in an abusive relationship, listen to this episode because I guarantee you know someone going through it right now and this may help you be a better supporter for them. If you're going through this or have gone through it, I'm so sorry you're experiencing this and this episode may help. I don't talk about narcissistic abuse in this episode because that is going to be an episode all on it's own and because narcissistic abuse typically encompasses several of the types of abuse I discuss in this episode. I do mention it but don't go into detail.

In this episode, Kayla and I sit down to talk about so many topics plaguing moms today. We discuss mom guilt, not taking care of ourselves before we're pouring into everyone else and how to shift that dynamic. We discuss anxiety- why it happens to the best of us, what causes it and how to overcome it. Kayla and I get off on a small tangent that turns into a connection opportunity for listeners and their spouses. We discuss whether you can see movies when people talk or whether you just hear words and the screen is blank. This is wild!

  • Ep: 59 Living A Dream with Brady and Leslie Huffer

If you've ever thought about quitting your W2 job and pursuing something greater, working with your spouse, or wondered if you have the mindset needed for an exceptional marriage, this episode is for you!

If you've got small kids and you're working from home, trying to juggle all the roles of life, parenthood, entrepreneurship, and taking care of yourself, this episode is for you!

This episode is packed with nuggets to help your marriage, both a husband and a wife's perspective on many issues we all face, and my personal favorite part of this episode- an inside look and listen on how a truly healthy, happy marriage mindset is. I was absolutely blown away with the way Brady and Leslie talk to and about each other! The mindset they have toward working together, their WHY for working together, their mindset for their marriage, it's all so inspiring and beautiful. If we normalize anything, let it be this!

Leslie and Brady Huffer started a digital marketing side hustle soon after they got married as a creative outlet and additional income stream while she was a special education teacher and he was in corporate sales. Their marketing agency, Hey Huffers, grew faster than they had anticipated and they decided to take the leap to quit their 9 to 5 jobs to run it full-time together. A week later they found out they were pregnant and expecting a baby girl! Now they get to run their business from home and be present with their daughter each day. In the transition of leaving their full-time jobs to be home managing a business together, they have learned the importance of communication and teamwork as they tackle running a business and raising a baby hand-in-hand and side by side. In addition to Hey Huffers, Leslie has started a community to help other moms launch their own profitable at-home business as well as sharing simple everyday activities to keep kids engaged, learning, and growing each day called The Joyful Work at Home Mama. They love empowering other families to live life on their own terms! • Ep 58: There's Powerful Healing Through Sleep with Jessica Watterud

Jessica Watterud is a licensed clinical counselor, a blood specialist and certified in EMDR. She's passionate about sleep as it is the gateway to being more productive, processing your trauma, making sound decisions and ultimately living your best life.

Jessica and I dove deep into several rabbit holes in this episode. With two healers in the marriage and family realm, it was bound to happen. We talked about trauma, childhoods, improving sleep without the use of sleep aides, building habits that lead to better, deeper sleep, what happens in the brain when people are considering divorce and why 35% of people who file for divorce later regret it. There are some stories shared as if you're a third friend joining us for coffee and learning along with us.

  • EP 57: Lessening the Mental Load with Zach Watson, Recovering Man Child

Today I sat down with Zach Watson who calls himself the Recovering Man Child to talk about how he coaches men to lessen the mental load for their partners, lessen the resentment for themselves and their partners, create healthier communication habits, and increase emotional intelligence.

In this candid conversation, Zach and I talk about the 81% divorce rate if a male has low emotional intelligence in a marriage, how men respond to coaching better than counseling or therapy and how men feel resentment for not feeling like they have permission to say no in their marriages when asked to do something.

I give Zach some hard questions about his own marriage, examples of my own and we talk about ways we would coach clients with the same issues.

How do you get your partner to recognize the mental load you have? How do you get them to step up when it feels like they're dragging you and the marriage down? How do you get your man child to recover? Zach addresses all of this and more in this episode!

Men, are you ready to start recovering from being a man child yourself? Ladies, ready for your husband to start lessening your mental load? Book a call with Zach today!
