December 2019 and heading into 2020, we will always remember the catastrophic fires throughout Victoria and NSW.

These fires brought to light many people's stories of loss, emotional and physical helplessness and not mention attempting to rebuild a life again.

My guest today shares her journey of droving, drought, family and fires, to now... what brings her happiness all while being a rural woman.

When you have a career you love, then have to make the decision to throw it all on the line, head west, move into a contracting camp, take on the task as cook to feed the hungry workers, figure out the lingo, learn where you fit in..... AND did I mention start dating (the boss!).

My guest today puts it all down to changing her attitude. The shift she needed for everything to fall into place.

My first taste of the bush was visiting a relative outside Gunnedah at age 8. It was bare dirt, scattered with sheep bones but I felt something, I didn't know what but it felt good".

These are the words of my guest today, a QLD girl with her life's journeys taking her from one end to the country and back. She has been a governess, jillaroo, publican, childcare worker, a keen traveller of the world, a mother, grandmother and a wife. All the while dealing with what life has thrown her like the drought, insanely high interest rates and life's bad decisions. But it keeps circling back to what she loves, the land and all it has to offer.

For anyone living where you work and working where you live can be hard, but for my guest today her motto is "you just get on with it".

She has worked alongside her husband on some of the biggest cattle properties in the NT and now calling home at Roebuck Plains on the North West coast of Western Australia.

A woman of many talents there's not much this mother of four doesn't excel at, outside in the paddock behind a mob of cattle, teaching her 3 children via SODE, or getting out for a run with her children trailing behind her.

A fourth-generation farmer you would say that the bush life is in her DNA and she loves it.

My guest today lives on a remote cattle property north of Richmond in QLD. She is a wife, mother of two beautiful boys as well as works on their property with her husband Niko.

Jade is also a qualified yoga teacher and runs her own online yoga and meditation platform. A Brisbane girl who met her husband on the TV show Farmer Wants a Wife and has never looked back.

Life is a crazy journey and you never know what cards you will be dealt, especially living rurally.

For my guest today life has done just that, now calling home in the remote area of the gulf at Hells Gate Roadhouse and property, situated between Doomagee and Barroloola alongside her partner Scott and two children Peggie and Kip.
