This episode is with Dr. Jim Chiapetta. Dr. Chiapetta is both a veterinarian AND an attorney. He's dabbled in many things in the medical field, both in humans and horses. He is one of the creators and principles of Flair Equine Nasal Strips. In this conversation, amongst other things, we go DEEP into the science of respiratory wellness. We discuss Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhaging (EIPH or "Bleeding"), the factors the cause it, and preventative measures taken to help alleviate this issue that ALL performance horses will likely deal with at some point in their life and performance careers. This one was interesting and has many great nuggets of information in it that you may need to listen to more than once to get. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed talking to him! Thanks for hanging out with us!

On this episode of the podcast we talked with Dr. Ricci Karkula-Warnock. Dr. Karkula-Warnock is the veterinary reproduction specialist at Elgin Veterinary Hospital in Elgin, Texas. She has helped us with all of our equine reproduction needs for the last few years and I don't know where we'd be without her. In this episode, we cover a lot about breeding. We discuss a full plan from having an open mare, to breeding that mare, what goes on during gestation, and what to do post-foaling. We talk about embryo transfers, ICSI, and many other aspects of equine reproduction. This is a conversation that anyone who has even a small breeding program can learn from. Hope y'all enjoy it! Thanks for listening!

In this episode of the show we're back again with our lifelong friend, schoolmate, and author, Jonathon "JO" Oliver. We affectionally know Jonathon as "JJ" from our time growing up together in our small Central Texas town. Growing up with Jonathan we never knew he was struggling with both dyslexia and ADHD while he was in school. He did such a good job masking and teaching himself how to learn that we never assumed that he had these learning challenges. In his new book, To The Little Boy In Me, Learning with Dyslexia and ADHD, he discusses his struggle, the methods he's used to overcome these challenges, and how to help others overcome these same issues. It was released TODAY, May 1, 2019, and is available to purchase online at amazon.com (see the link in the show notes). This was an interesting conversation and one that many people may find hits pretty close to home.

Hey there!
This was our first solo episode in a while (well, just the 2 of us). We talked about current events like Easter, the start of baseball season, the Notre Dame fire, social media, and other random things. We also answered a few questions about when to say when with a horse that isn't working out, how old is too old to start rodeoing, and getting a horse adjusted to rodeoing. Thanks for listening and hanging out with us!

This episode of Married With Horses is with Janet Staton. Last year Janet trained and jockeyed JS Milo and Stitch (owned by Jennifer Fite) to the most money won in a single futurity season EVER. Over $250k in one season on a 4yo horse… pretty amazing. Jackie and Janet have been around each other forever as we all were raised in the same stretch of Central Texas. Janet, while riding and training horses from a young age, only recently began training horses as a full time profession after leaving her teaching career for many years to pursue a passion that has kindled most of her life. She's a great lady and a hell of hand on the back of colt. We couldn't be happier for huge accomplishment last year. We talk about this and much more on this episode that we recorded from Diamonds and Dirt 2019! Thanks for hanging out with us!

This episode of MwH is all about Cannabidiol, better known as CBD. We sat down with Samantha Oates of Kahm CBD (formally PlantaceaCBD) to talk about this amazing chemical found naturally occurring in the cannabis plant. We discuss the facts of CBD, talk about hemp, discuss the stigma behind it, and talk about the various products they have available. We discuss the science and we attempt to bring it down a bit to make it easier to understand. We are big fans of CBD use in humans as well as well as in our dogs and horses. We hope you find this episode interesting! Thanks for hanging out with us!

Hey y'all!
This episode of Married With Horses is with barrel horse trainer, Craig Brooks. Craig has been successful in training and competing in the futurity world for many years. This Georgia cowboy has qualified for The American and this year made the shootout final-four round. He ended up 3rd against the best horses on the planet in one of the most competitive events and most challenging atmospheres at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Just prior to this conversation he had just won the first round of the futurity of Diamonds and Dirt on his Epic Leader colt, Epic Bit of Fame.
Craig is an interesting and articulate fella. We discussed training tactics, mentality, and discussed many if the horses he's competed and won on in the past. We really enjoyed talking with him and hope you have a good time listening to it!

Hey Y'all!
This episode of Married With Horses (which we recorded at Diamonds and Dirt 2019) is a really interesting one! We sat down and talked with Scott Campbell. Scott is an Equine Feed Specialist for Purina. Purina, being one of the oldest and largest animal feed companies on Earth, knows a thing or two about horse nutrition. We talked about specific components of feed and how your feed program effects your horse's performance. We discussed the importance of grass/hay foraging and we discussed some emerging trends in the feed industry and the potential issues and possible remedies to some of these. We also talked about what you can do to figure out what feed program is best for the horses in your barn.
We think there are a lot of great nuggets to take out of this episode. Let us know what you think. Thanks for listening!

Welcome back friends!
This episode of the podcast is with barrel horse trainer, Brandon Cullins. Brandon won more money on the back of a barrel horse last year than anyone on the planet (about $500k). To say he had "quite the season" is a bit of an understatement. His crazy year started with an unprecedented sweep at the BFA World Championships in OKC, winning the Juvenile Futurity, Futurity, AND Derby... ALL FRIGGIN' THREE!! WOW!
We had an interesting conversation with this young horse training superstar while sitting in the "Stallion Corral" at Diamonds and Dirt Barrel Horse Classic in Bryan, TX. We hope you enjoy it!
