What is fear like for professional boxers? Is fear different for them than anxiety? What kind of coping strategies do boxers put in place to understand, contrast, or even use fear and anxiety?
In this Martial Attitude Voice podcast episode, we had the chance to explore the topic from a slightly different angle, that is the one of the boxing coach.
Guest of the episode is Jon Durrant, former ISKA Kickboxing Champion, acknowledged as one of the most versatile coaches in London. He has and continues to train Elite Amateur International Boxers (Olympic level), Professional Boxers (WBC International Champion), Kickboxers (ISKA European champion, WKA European champion, World champion) Karate Combat’ World title fight and MMA fighters (Bellator, PFL and Cagewarriors).
What did he learn about fear and how to tackle it over almost 4 decades in competing in different combat sports and in boxing? Who is he training now? What does he says to his champions when in doubt of fear?
Super podcast to listen to.

Masood Abdulah has a hunger for a title and Amin "The General" Jahanzeb is the only obstacle in the way.
Masood is known for his fierce technical skills and for the power of his blows. Originally from Afghanistan, Masood first arrived in London as a refugee and his immense drive brought him to thrive in boxing overcoming incredible odds, and he was the first person to win the NBA Elite title in 23 years in London. He is now looking for a decisive step up in his career before his age might pose a greater limitation in achieving important results in professional boxing.
In this interview, we come to know how both Masood and Amin are keen of fighting each other as soon as possible as planned, without any further delays due to unexpected and unwelcome interferences by the boxing federation.
Masood is showing confidence on the damage he can inflict on The General and that he should be fearful of losing all what he had worked so hard to conquer by accepting a fight with him.
The date is set for August the 18th 2023 at the York Hall in London. Will you be there as well?

Remembrance day isn't fixed to November the 11th as much as it is fixed to a particular war as time passes by.
Time itself is a convention and we use to mark it using we came to call timepieces.
A watch. And there's a watch in Peter's house which can tell a hell of a story.
Curiously enough, the formation of memories doesn't necessarily require that we directly lived the facts we come to remember. By extension, neither it require us to have seen them with our very eyes.
To watch things and memory with visual impairment, is any different?
Discover in this episode how a watch can make us to watch, so to speak.

My experience with Soft Tissue Massage Therapy was fundamental in developing this program by providing me with many practical tools to develop the ideas and methods of MA Training.
My first objective through the university course in Sport Psychology is to gain a deeper understanding of:
The needs of the visually impaired and blind people when it comes to personal safety.
What is the impact of movement and tactile experiences for them.
I'd plan to achieve this by conducting a series of research interviews within the community in order to gain quantitative and qualitative data.
The second objective is to to further develop and refine the MA Training program based on the outcome of the research and to build on the success that I have achieved so far.
Peter Sands (Chairman of the London Sports Club for the Blind) is registered blind himself and he says that "MA Training has personally helped me to feel confident in crowded situations, be aware of my posture alignments and overall has improved my balance."

If you cannot see, then you must rely on a specific order in the things you use.
At home as much as at work. With the adding of some special attention towards your skills and your need by the employer.
But the boundaries between what it could be and what is gonna be tend to become very confused, almost blurred. And it is not a play on words.
We talk about these topics with Peter, in a conversation that span across domains: what you need, what you can and what is needed out of you if you are visually impaired or blind.
This interview was first recorded on Thursday 11th of November, 2021.
