This is such a profound quote by Rumi and one that can be so helpful for those that wear the perfectionist mask. In this episode Kim shares her challenges with a food program that she is on and how she realizes that she is wearing layers of the perfection mask. She shares her all or nothing thinking and when she is not succeeding one hundred percent then she can tend to fall into a pattern of just quitting or giving up because she is not perfect. The antidote to this way of being is to have self-compassion and to be mindful of finding a middle ground. To hear more listen in.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” ~ Rumi

Episode 94
It is often said that pain in life is inevitable, but suffering is optional. Do you even notice when you are suffering? Do you find yourself complaining or feeling like a victim? Do you tell yourself stories that keep you perpetuating the cycle of suffering? Kim and Tia talk about how we can free ourselves if we can look at our experiences and ask ourselves is this happening to me or for me? One is very different from the other. When we can have the perspective that all experiences in life are here for us then we can be in a very abundant space in our lives thus freeing ourselves from being a victim.

Episode 93
Is pressure serving you in your life or is it hindering your day-to-day well-being? Do you feel pressure to be perfect? Do you feel pressure to meet unrealistic expectations from yourself and others? Is there an unrealistic expectation of what it means to be successful? If you answered yes to any of these questions you are not alone. Culture has put a lot of pressure on us and then we just add fuel to the fire by putting more pressure on ourselves and we often end up feeling that we are not enough. Pressure isn’t bad all the time because it does help us to take action and to grow and evolve. It is ultimately about learning the balance between the two.

Episode 91
How many times have you been in a rut or a difficult time in your life and felt like you would never see the light at the end of the tunnel? Do you abandon self-care during these times and therefore end up feeling even more depleted? The most important thing we can do for ourselves is to take care of ourselves even if it is sprinkled throughout the day. A few minutes of breathing or stretching or drinking some extra water will actually make a difference. It is a practice of putting water in the bucket so that when a crisis hits you are more apt to handle the situation. While this is not an easy practice the more that we do it the easier it gets because we are creating new neural pathways. To hear more on this listen to Kim and Tia share.

Episode 90
Without even realizing it we are living out patterns or roles. These roles and patterns become our masks. We don’t consciously do this. We fall into these patterns in childhood often to protect ourselves. As this happens and we create more and more patterns we lose our true self. As we awaken and become more aware of our patterns we can step into a new dance and create a new way of living life. It does take time and it is a back and forth dance because not all people in our lives will be happy with our new dance. To hear more about this idea of creating a life and not living out our patterns listen in as Kim and Tia deconstruct this.

Episode 89
Imagine being caught in a rip tide. What is the first thing that you are told to do if you get caught in a rip tide? Do you flow against it or ride with it? We can apply this same advice when it comes to the challenges in our lives. It is more beneficial to flow with the challenges rather than resist. When we let go of resistance and move into acceptance we have more peace. While it is difficult to move into acceptance and to let go of controlling outcomes, it is truly the only thing we have control over. Kim and Tia share their thoughts on the abundance of moving into acceptance.
“Peace. It doesn't mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.” ~ Unknown

Episode 87
When you find yourself in a difficult space and having a really hard time, is it easy or difficult for you to reach out and ask for support? Do you feel afraid to be vulnerable and ask another just to listen and hold space for you? In this episode, Kim and Tia talk about how truly important it is to recognize first that healing takes time and there are many layers to healing, but also that it is so important and vital to reach out and ask for a “lifeline” when you are struggling. We come into this world wired for connection and we are not meant to travel this journey alone.
