  • The Matt Duffin Show: Empty Nest & Noggin'
I'm present and accounded for, therefore TMDS will be LIVE! from the Downtown Milton Studio #2.  Superbowl is on, big deal.  I'll peek in.  But its not the Colts playing, so I only wish Bill Bellycheat and Bad Brady the worse - like any ordinary NFL week.  My Co-host Jennifer Goodman is away from studio tonight ASLEEP &/or cheering Atlanta Falcons on.  Southern Bell, football and illness requested time-off.  Hummm?  Go Birds!   She had surgery on Friday, "request approved".  I'd just got back to my desk, too.  An hour after last week's show, I began a trail that encountered a concussion, cuts and bruises and bumps on the noggin AGAIN last week.   Oh my ribs hurt, whine whine whine - but not rebroke.  Bloody, confusing, life on life terms meant I was seizuring out, moving to fall, over and over to "fight or flight' the moments.  It was, shall we say, a "wrecking ball" with my PJ's on.  I'll share the moment, Henry Co Hospital's fine help, along with Milton Rescue and more.  Started feeling better yesterday, overdid it and now popping back around.    Wasn't sure a TMDS would be on because of the horrindous week behind us.  Dearest Jennifer had surgery on Friday morning, around the same time I was opening up room on BIRN's "The Duffin Ward".  She's sore, tired, and sends her love.  Goofier than ever (strange though, I can almost 'feel' myself coming around) I'm surfing alone tonight.  No empty hole for the Sunday slot, not last moment HELP from my great friends in the main office.   Let's do this.  424  243-9540 Call me, don't be alone.  Or if on FB, WE'LL CALL YOU!  After football and the 'gaged-gaged' halftime show, I'll present old performance of SB past.  Enjoy your TBI - I do...

  • The Matt Duffin Show - 'A Healthy Brain' - Learn TBI Style
The 'Healthy Brain', as is naturally without birth defects, meant to be, is discussed.  A lobes, all touched on.  But not too much, you've had enough touches up there  To understand our brain, and our issues caused by brain damage, we should first understand the brain.  It's long and deep subject, yes.  (It's Sunday - sing with the choir "Deep, and Wide.  Deep, and Wide.  There's a Fountian flowing deep and wide.  Deep and wiii-iiide") Uh, good luck, TBI or not understanding mine.  Well, Jennifer understands me, just ask Miss Goodman yourself.  Her and Max, and perhaps Liz will join us.  There's been strep going around in Bama, that's my Co-hosts decision.  A game time, er, show time decision. See, both our brains are working, perhaps in different directions but still positivily, working.  OK, so she's more mature than I.   I survived a lethal, beyond reality double-shot, 'deep through the middle of the brain."  I know about deep and wide brain's, so I'll share.  One usually leaves ya dead, if not comatose until death.  I figure one straightened the other blow out.  Kinda like God was straightening me out.  I'm still ''a crooked man" the way I walk, er, hobble.  But gave me a brain to learn, share and listen to your words of wisdom.  I love learning.  (424)  243-9540.  All you single TBI fella's, listen here.  She's gonna mame me, but that's Jen's home number.   You will NOT get an answer until after 10 pm Eastern.  But I can keep the sweetheart darling up until around Midnight.  (she refuse's to stay until 2 am, with me.  Something about 'they' ain't calling her out to dinner after midnight, now are they?...I'm still up, call me... • The Matt Duffin Show - Seizures, Jen's a STAR & Your Thoughts
Presidency aside, it was a good week for TMDS staff.  Jenifer Goodman, my sidekick, was on television on ABC in Birmingham, Alabama, discussing TBI, life as a mother with TBI, a recent book she was a contributor in and two-glorious minutes PLUGGING TMDS and BrainInjuryRadio!  I and we thank her.  Jen's beautiful self was quite the guest.  You, as listeners, gave her courage and the ability to work an interview.  I and Jen thank you.   Amy Sue Root's mother Sue, sent out a post this week on the 40 different types of Seizures, and commonality following Traumatic Brain Injury.  Or as I like to say "it came with the territory."  (hoping folks know I am still KING of my territory.  You don't like the terrain, move along please).  Please feel free to offer your Seizure experiences by calling in.  Seizures, 8 years post accident, keep me from driving, working, and that's about it.  I work thru the rest -  they happen.  There are precautions, your surroundings, your support your safety to consider.  Strongly.  We'll discuss them.   Jenifer ROCKED Alabama on Wednesday!  We'll listen, talk about her nerve structure before and following, preparation and I want to dicsuss sweet little Liz's school about this couragous and terrific represention of TMDS and primarily, the TBI Family.   Oh, to call us.  Talk about Seizures, TBI stuff or your choice to win the Super Bowl.  We should be down to two teams half way through the show.  Don't worry, I'll keep ya up dated.  I always wanted to do Sports On Air!

  • The Matt Duffin Show - "Jen, Me & TBI make 3"...
I wish my presents was in Cullman, Alabama today.  If nothing else, to see my co-host Jennifer Goodman RUN to Wal-Mart, as was just text to me.  She's got a plan for tonight, and a bit nervous about it.  I'll be On Air of course, don't worry about the nerves - any of you listeners.  Its Sunday, I got ya covered.   Not so serious day of your serious moments, every moment.  TBI sucks.  Does it?  "THAT'S WHAT YOU'LL ADMIT??"  OK, sure, a TBI sucks, but so does a burnt supper, or a bad report card or the way you act around people.  Get over it.  It's there, and not going away.  Neither are you.  So much to relearn, so much to discover about yourself.  Stick around, be positive, see actually what the future may hold.   why go back to 'that life' you had?  It didn't end well, did it?  Start anew.  Evidently, I should.  Or must.  Now then,  Wonder what Jennifer Goodman's been up to, besides being a single parent, a mother with a TBI of a dear young lady working their lives together.  (sounded pretty happy Christmas break was over - both of 'em that is).  Our Jennifer, MY Jennifer, ok, Liz's Jennifer is scheduled for a television appearance this week, and bubbling with confidence and thoughts.   Let's check her out.  Krystal, you better call us.  Everyone else too.  Its 'Chat with Matt' night with Jennifer in control (woman thing).  Call (424)  243-9540 and let's get it on.  Oh, it will be a Foreigner-based night on the Juke Box.  Remember, I run the switches, and always I've "Been Waiting, For A Girl Like You" even though  I've been known to be "A Dirty White Boy"....

  • The Matt Duffin Show - Goals, Memory Books and a TBI Way To Resolutions
"Ya dig deeper for gold; and what do you get?  Another day older and"------hey, stop right there!  In disregard to Tennessee Ernie Ford's long-ago song, another day older is good enough for me.  Now, indeed I have thoughts, plans, GOALS and ideas, but my favorite day is tomorrow.  Following ALL THOSE DAMNED DEATHS, tomorrow is good enough for me.   Resolutions are for the drunk-minded on New Years Eve, and children.  But drunks can act like children, and us with brain 'issues' can act like a underaged teenage party at times.  It just happens.  But, doesn't require the same amount or mixture of booze.   We can just shake our head real fast.  But we DO NEED GOALS in our life, our daily life, the lives of those around us and beyond.  And writing it down on paper can be SOOOO time consuming, if I can find the paper that is.  Now, what was I writting down? Let's learn the Memory Book made YOUR way game.  It's easy, fulfilling, MEMORABLE and 'kinda cool' if you will.  Yes, you have a memory, but yes, MemBooks is a boost.  Your boost.  You just can't forget your book.  NEVER.  It's your book, your help, your guide.  Uh, I left mine once at school long ago, at it developed into THIS!  Wasn't the reason for my book but soon came awards, radio, TV, PEER Mentor, but it sure turned out to be. Debating on my mindset, my hopechest, my work and 'which months' will I hospitalized in 2017, again, I've goals not yet on paper, but planned.  It's FINALLY time to write, not a book, but books.  My own mini-Grisham left behind.  The wants of families need met, the need of a Survivors?  They just want to talk about what they know - themselves; until you begin to teach them life itself.  God has a head start. (424)243-9540...

  • 'The Matt Duffin Show' - Jonathan Winchester & Wounded Warriors
Sargent Jonathan Winchester is a friend of mine.  Jon became a professional photographer after 18 years of active duty in the Army; we worked many ballgames together during my sports writing years.  The career Army man didn't reach the 20-year retirement mark because of a TBI and PTSD.  Medically Retired.  We, in the Canal Town area are so proud of his duty and service - 2 tours in Iraq and 1 near deadly tour in Afganhastan (sp),  We'll talk more about the Veteran's Administration, and it's 'form' of recovery.  But Mr. Winchesters post service duty bars none.  Often a pall bearer for those who didn't survvive the wrath of war, Jon has seen Presidental Duty in motor cades, bike rides, memorial motor bike rides and even had his picture on a bike with Pres Obama taken (shut up!).   We'll run other PTSD interviews as time allows.  Also looking forward to an update from Sue Root (maybe), Dr. Kevin Butterfield, Gina around midnight and of course, Sam Way!   Between surgeries and having issues, bare with me.  But, I ALWAYS SHOW UP FOR WORK (now, what I do once there is another opion,)

  • 'The Matt Duffin Show' - I Don't Need Your Opinion, it's Called 'Brain Injury'
Rough week in TMDS world of TBI.  Myself, for certain.  My Co-Hosts, probably.  Melissa Meep and Sam Way have TBI's everyday, like me.  Each day is a struggle, from wiggling our toes to see we are alive a awake thru a double/triple shower past burning lunch to forgetting to take your meds.  It can be a struggle.  Do God's 'regular' folks understand?  A few try, most don't.  Many family members and friends took an 'exit, stage right' when we woke from our trauma.  Now, agreed, they have lives as well, but the trauma seemed over.  Doc said so!  WRONG!!  It just begain.  In total, we must learn to live in this world, baby step by baby step, because, uh, well, WE FORGOT OUR LIVES, which means we forgot most.  Some comes back, in spurts or recollections from others suggestions, many never do.  I'm telling you, my last marraige was a happy time!  I'm making the shambles so.  Don't care to relive the ugly when tomorrow looks beautiful.  One day at a time.  The Navy taught me the only easy day was yesterday.  I agree, but man, this past week's been tough in total.  Attacked unknowingly by ignoranus folks who have no idea what living with a brain injury is like, nor care to.  Too busy.  Let's teach them what busy is REALLY like, such as living with a TBI.  Thank you Lord, appreciated however I never felt lucky.  I felt totally changed.  Tonya and Mahlon Whitaker is expected to join Meepster, Sam and me, and this producer turned announcer to turn host ANTICIPATES a crowd of Survivors to call in and discuss NO, I MAY LOOK OK, BUT REALLY - I'M NOT.  And no, this doesn't happen to you...

  • 'The Matt Duffin Show' - Let's Sit Down with Darcy Keith
The interview, the voice, the spirit, the mom, the moment Brain Injury Radiio awaited for is Sundy, November 2nd at 10 pm est as the lovely DARCY KEITH sit down with Melissa and Matt.  Professional, inspiring, thoughtful and a over whelming survivor of TBI.  Darcy is a public speaker, where she has talked with the NFL Rookies, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens during their championship recently, schools, and so much more.  So much.  She can talk about numerous things, except herself.  I'm a countryboy from Milton, and been interviewing folks for a couple of decades.  Got Meep by my side, the conversation will be enlightening, driven, personal and words you've always wanted to hear.  Thanks dear friend and dearest Melissa, it was my pleasure.  (next time remind me to get cookies, or bring some...) Ya changed the clocks back an hour last night, and put new batteries in alarms and smoke detectors.  Now, you shouldl vote on Tuesday.  Local electiions are the heart and soul of America, and not as media driven as Presidential Election years.  Who's on your school board?  The County Sheriff?  Vote.  It matters.  Jenny Johnson will join Meep Meep to inspire us early on, Sam Way as well.  After the 10:30-ish to 12:00-ish interview with Darcy, its off again into the wild skype wonders as we take the midnight train to Georgia, street in Western Capetown, South Africa and recieve and update from TMDS Coorespondent Gina Gee, now an Ice Skater.  We can slide around until Porky says goodbye discussing Public Speaking.  I wanna learn....
