Matt has a B.A. degree from Rutgers and a J.D degree from Duke Law School. After working in aerospace, he began working in oil and gas improving Blow-Out preventer design after the Deepwater Horizon accident. After six years in Shell developing new technologies to improve facility construction and maintenance, he founded Cumulus in 2018. Cumulus is an AI-powered quality management system (QMS) for safety critical work activities. Matt discusses how his company is improving quality and safety in oil and gas construction using digital systems such as AI, Bluetooth-connected tools, and phone apps for worker activities. This system improves work quality for everything from installing bolts to paint coatings. He believes quality assurance involves Transparency and Traceability.
