According to the IMF Regional Economic Outlook report, the outlook for the Middle East and Central Asia will vary significantly across countries, depending on the pandemic’s path, vaccine rollouts, underlying fragilities, exposure to tourism and contact-intensive sectors. Encouraging progress can be seen on structural reform in parts of the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where policy efforts to accelerate the development of the non-oil sector are building significant momentum.
