苹果树
The Apple Tree



A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and lay around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow... He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.
很久很久以前，有一棵又高又大的苹果树。一位小男孩，天天到树下来，他爬上去摘苹果吃，在树荫下睡觉。他爱苹果树，苹果树也爱和他一起玩耍。


Time went by... the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. &`&Come and play with me,&`& the tree asked the boy. &`&I am no longer a kid, I don&`&t play around trees anymore.&`& The boy replied, &`&I want toys. I need money to buy them.&`&&`&Sorry, but I don&`&t have money...but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.&`& The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
后来，小男孩长大了，不再天天来玩耍。一天他又来到树下，很伤心的样子。苹果树要和他一起玩，男孩说：“不行，我不小了，不能再和你玩，我要玩具，可是没钱买。”苹果树说：“很遗憾，我也没钱，不过，把我所有的果子摘下来卖掉，你不就有钱了？”男孩十分激动，他摘下所有的苹果，高高兴兴地走了。然后，男孩好久都没有来。苹果树很伤心。


One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited. &`&Come and play with me,&`& the tree said. &`&I don&`&t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?&`& &`&Sorry, but I don&`&t have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.&`& So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
有一天，男孩终于来了，树兴奋地邀他一起玩。男孩说：“不行，我没有时间，我要替家里干活呢，我们需要一幢房子，你能帮忙吗？”“我没有房子，”苹果树说，“不过你可以把我的树枝统统砍下来，拿去搭房子。”于是男孩砍下所有的树枝，高高兴兴地运走去盖房子。看到男孩高兴树好快乐。从此，男孩又不来了。树再次陷入孤单和悲伤之中。



One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted. &`&Come and play with me!&`& the tree said. &`&I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?&`& &`&Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.&`& So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.
一年夏天，男孩回来了，树太快乐了：“来呀！孩子，来和我玩呀。”男孩却说：“我心情不好，一天天老了，我要扬帆出海，轻松一下，你能给我一艘船吗？”苹果树说：“把我的树干砍去，拿去做船吧！”于是男孩砍下了她的树干，造了条船，然后驾船走了，很久都没有回来。树好快乐⋯⋯但不是真的。


Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years. &`&Sorry, my boy. But I don&`&t have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you...&`& the tree said.
许多年过去，男孩终于回来，苹果树说：“对不起，孩子，我已经没有东西可以给你了，我的苹果没了。”


&`&I don&`&t have teeth to bite,&`& the boy replied.
男孩说：“我的牙都掉了，吃不了苹果了。”


&`&No more trunk for you to climb on.&`&
苹果树又说：“我再没有树干，让你爬上来了。”


&`&I am too old for that now,&`& the boy said.
男孩说：“我太老了，爬不动了。”


&`&I really can&`&t give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots,&`& the tree said with tears.
“我再也没有什么给得出手了⋯⋯，只剩下枯死下去的老根，”树流着泪说。


&`&I don&`&t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.&`& The boy replied.
男孩说：“这么多年过去了，现在我感到累了，什么也不想要，只要一个休息的地方。”


&`&Good! Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, Come sit down with me and rest.&`& The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...
“好啊！老根是最适合坐下来休息的，来啊，坐下来和我一起休息吧！”男孩坐下来，苹果树高兴得流下了眼泪⋯⋯


This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad... When we grown up, we left them, and only came to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could to make you happy. You may think that the boy is cruel to the tree but that&`&s how all of us are treating our parents.
这就是我们每个人的故事。这颗树就是我们的父母。小时候，我们喜欢和爸爸妈妈玩⋯⋯长大后，我们就离开他们，只在需要什么东西或者遇到麻烦的时候，才回到他们身边。无论如何，父母永远都在那儿，倾其所有使你快乐。你可能认为这个男孩对树很残酷，但这就是我们每个人对待父母的方式。

— Carrot Egg and coffee —


A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know she was going to make it and want to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.
有一个女孩向她父亲抱怨她的生活，她觉得凡事都很艰难，不知该怎样挺过去，想放弃。她厌倦了不断的抗争和奋斗，似乎一个问题刚刚解决，另一个问题马上呈现。


Her father, a cook, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire .Soon the pots came to a boil. In one he placed carrots, in the second he placed eggs, and in the last he placed ground coffee beans. He let them sit and boil, without saying a word.
她的父亲是个厨师，他把她带到了厨房。他在三个壶里分别装满了水，然后放到高温的火上烧。很快，壶里的水被煮开了。他往第一个壶里放了些胡萝卜，往第二个壶里放了几个鸡蛋，在最后一个壶里放了些磨碎的咖啡豆，然后，一句话也没说，他由着水把它们煮沸。


The daughter sucked her teeth and impatiently waited, wondering what he was doing. In about twenty minutes he turned off the burners. He fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. He pulled the eggs out and placed them a bowl. Then he ladled the coffee out and placed it in a mug. Turning to her he asked," Darling, what do you see?"
女儿咂巴着牙齿发出声响，不耐烦地等着，对父亲的行为感到很纳闷。大约二十分钟后，父亲关掉了火炉，把胡萝卜捞出来，放到一个碗里。又把鸡蛋拣出来放进另一个碗里，接着把咖啡用勺子舀出来倒进一个杯子里，然后转过头来，对她说，“亲爱的，你看到的是什么？”


"Carrots, eggs, and coffee." she replied.
“胡萝卜、鸡蛋和咖啡。”她答道。


He brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots, she did and noticed that they were soft .He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee.She smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma.
父亲把她带近了这些东西，要她去摸胡萝卜，她摸了之后，注意到，它们变柔软了。然后，他又要她去拿一个鸡蛋并把它敲破，在把壳剥掉之后，她观察了这个煮熟的鸡蛋。最后，父亲要她饮一口咖啡。尝着芳香四溢的咖啡，她微笑起来。


"What does it mean, Father?" she humbly asked.

He explained that each of them had faced the same adversity, boiling water, but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. But after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and weak. The egg had being fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water. Its inside became hardened.The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
父亲解释说，这三洋东西面临着同样的逆境——煮沸的水。但它们的反应却各不相同。胡萝卜本是硬的，坚固而且强度大，但受到煮沸的水的影响后，它变得柔软而脆弱。鸡蛋本来易碎，薄薄的外壳保护着内部的液体。但是在经历过煮沸的水以后，它的内部却变得坚硬。不过，最独特的却是磨碎的咖啡豆，当它们被放入煮沸的水之后，它们却改变了水。


"Which are you?" he asked his daughter.

善良为我找到了新的工作




I've been job hunting for about eight months.
在八个月的时间里，我一直在找工作。



A few weeks ago I went to an interview and handed off my car to the valet guy.
几周以前，我开车参加一个面试，把车子交给停车的侍者。



As I was waiting for the elevator I heard him tell his coworker that he would kill for a coffee, so after my interview I stopped at the cafe in the lobby and grabbed one for him.
在我等电梯的时候，我听见他对他的同事说自己超想来一杯咖啡，于是面试结束，我在门廊顺便买了一杯给他。



He was super grateful and asked for my business card.
他显得非常感动，还要了张我的名片。



I gave it to him, thinking maybe he wanted to send me a thank you email or something.
我给了他一张，想着他无非会写封感谢邮件或者做之类（表达谢意）的事情。



The next day I got a call from the manager at this big staffing agency in our city. She was the valet guy's cousin and he asked her to call me. I ended up meeting with her in person, and after only a week she found me my dream job. Today was my first day, and it went perfectly.
隔天我就接到了那个停车侍者表姐的电话，原来她就是我们当地最大职介结构经理，而且就是那个侍者叫她打给我的。职介经理亲自和我会面约谈，短短一周她就帮我找到了梦寐以求的工作。今天是我上班的第一天，进展非常顺利。

Dear God,
亲爱的上帝


Now that I am no longer young, I have friends whose mothers have passed away. I have heard these sons and daughters say they never fully appreciated their mothers until it was too late to tell them.
如今我已不再年轻，一些朋友的母亲已经去世了。我曾听这些子女们说过，他们从没有向母亲充分表示过他们的感激之情，而待到要告诉时为时已晚了。


I am blessed with the dear mother who is still alive. I appreciate her more each day. My mother does not change, but I do. As I grow older and wiser, I realize what an extraordinary person she is. How sad that I am unable to speak these words in her presence, but they flow easily from my pen.
幸运的是，我亲爱的母亲依然健在。我对她的感情与日俱增。母亲没有变，而我却变了。随着年岁的增长，我越来越懂事了，我认识到她是个非常了不起的人。这些话在她面前我难以启齿，但在笔下却可以轻易地写出来，这令我感到多么难过。


How does a daughter begin to thank her mother for life itself? For the love, patience and just plain hard work that go into raising a child? For running after a toddler, for understanding a moody teenager, for tolerating a college student who knows everything? For waiting for the day when a daughter realizes her mother really is?

How does a grown woman thank for a mother for continuing to be a mother? For being ready with advice (when asked) or remaining silent when it is most appreciated? For not saying: ' I told you so ', when she could have uttered these words dozens of times? For being essentially herself-loving, thoughtful, patient, and forgiving?
一个成年女子该怎样感谢母亲依然如故的角色？感谢在被问到时她会及时提供良言，而在不需要时她会保持沉默？感谢她没有说：“我告诉过你”，而她本来可以说上许多次？感谢她始终不变的爱心、体贴周到、耐心与宽容厚道?


I don't know how, dear God, except to bless her as richly as she deserves and to help me live up to the example she has set. I pray that I will look as good in the eyes of my children as my mother looks in mine.

这一天，什么都没发生

I'm just sitting here in my room today, listening to music while it rains outside my window, and I can't stop thinking about how happy I am and how great my life is. There's nothing particularly special about it - I'm not rich or famous, I'm not exceptionally talented, and I don't do anything particularly fabulous for a living. But I feel somewhat organized, I have a clean room and a car and a job, and most of all what makes it great is the mere fact that I feel happy.
今天我坐在自己的房间里，听着音乐，窗外下着雨，我不由得感到自己是多么愉快、生活是多么美妙。尽管我不是什么大富大贵，社会名流，也没有智力超群，或是做什么伟大的事情来营生。但是我感觉一切井井有条，我有一个干净的房间、一辆车以及一份工作。但是最重要的是，我单纯觉得快乐。




I know this may not seem like the most interesting story in the world, but when I was twelve, I was deeply suicidal.
我知道这看起来不像是什么世间的奇闻异事，但是在我12岁的时候，我非常想自杀。




I'm sharing my good mood today because I know there are tons of people out there who struggle with life.

I was probably 25 when happiness and contentment became my default emotions. It took a long time, and it took a lot of change, pain and growth. But now that I'm here, it feels permanent. And the emotions of the past feel like they happened to someone else. They are so foreign and distant to me. For some, it may take even longer, and it may take even more. But I cannot imagine even for a second that the struggle wouldn't be worth it if this is the end result.

If your life isn't where you want it to be, change it. It's what successful people have done for thousands of years. You may currently be struggling and frustrated with your life but it's not going to stay like this forever, that is, unless you don't do anything to change it.

如果现在的生活并非如你所愿，那就去改变，数千年来成功人士都是这样做的。你现在可能正在挣扎，目前的生活使你沮丧，但生活不会一成不变，只要你能行动起来做出改变。




The best time of your life may still be ahead of you but it won't just magically show up, you have to create it. It's in your power to create whatever future you want for your life. Even if your best days are truly behind you, you can still have plenty of great days ahead of you if you decide to make it so.

最好的生活仍在前方等着你，但它不会无缘无故出现，需要你亲手去创造。你拥有那种力量去创造自己未来想要的生活，即使最好的日子已经过去，但只要你下定决心未来仍有很多好日子等着你。




Instead of letting circumstances control and defeat you, use them to push you into action so that you can change your present situation. Bad times aren't going to last forever but if you want more great times ahead of you instead of just good times, it's time to start doing things that will make that a reality… it's time to work toward your ideal destination.

不要让生活控制或打败你，你要把压力变成动力去改变目前的处境。糟糕的情况不会永远持续下去，但如果你想要以后的生活更美好，那现在就要行动起来去把愿望变成现实，现在就要朝自己梦想的生活努力前行。






就像刚刚在长沙贺龙体育中心结束的 “ 2018年世界杯亚洲区预选赛12强 ” 这场比赛一样，中国1:0战胜韩国，糟糕的情况不会永远持续，当然，前提是你从现在就行动起来，朝着目标和愿望努力前行！

你要成为自己的那道光

Have you ever been around someone who immediately put you at ease? Perhaps you may be one of those people who others feel safe around.
有没有遇到过那么个人，只要他/她在你身边，你立即就觉得安心？或许你就是让别人觉得安心的那么一个人。


What is the common thread in people who emanate warmth? Some may think it is related to personality or physical appearance. But this does little to explain why bright beacons of light can be found anywhere. Essence has nothing to do with our exterior.
那些气场中自带温暖的人有哪些共性呢？一些人也许认为这与性格或外貌有关。但这基本解释不了为什么明亮的灯塔之光四处可见。本质与我们的外在无关。




I like to believe the common thread is a universal trait we are all able to tap into. When we see the truth of who we are and wholeheartedly love every part of that truth, we automatically shine. When we embrace our essence and live in congruence with who we are, we radiate peace.
我愿意相信这个共性是我们都能够触及的、普遍存在的品质。当我们欣赏自己的本质并全心全意热爱着这一切的时候，我们自然而然就会出类拔萃。当我们欣然接受自己的本质并遵循本心来生活的时候，我们会自带平和的光环。


Every day we can choose to wake up and see the gift of getting to be who we are. When we decide to live from this way of 'being,' it becomes easy to see this same light and gift in everyone — even those who may not yet see it in themselves.
每一天，我们都可以选择一醒来就欣赏做自己这一项天赋。当我们决定以“本性”来生活的时候，在每个人身上，甚至是那些可能还没有开始欣赏自身本性的人身上，我们变得很容易就能看到同样的光芒和天赋了。


The benefits of self-love are many. What I know to be true without a doubt in my heart, is that we are all capable of giving this gift to ourselves.

These words help me remember why embracing my essence is always the best thing to do. Perhaps this may resonate with where you are.
