When we seek to achieve success apart from God through our own self-effort, we are building modern day versions of the city and the tower of Babel. In Genesis 11, we see a sad story of a people trying to build a city apart from the plan and the purpose of God. And eventually, God stopped it. Founding Pastor Rick Duncan guides us through these passages in Genesis during the seventh week of this Summer 2014 teaching series in the first book of the Old Testament.

CVCYouth Pastor Joe Valenti brings us the fourth message in the 20-week series on the book of Genesis. He will share with us from Genesis 3:1-13, and will look at the scene in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve listened to the serpent and sinned. He will also address the address the issue of the viability of the Genesis account, specifically this story of the Fall from a Biblical perspective.

Care Pastor Dale Piscura shares with us from Genesis 2 how God created mankind, and it was very good. This is the third message in the 20-week teaching series on the book of Genesis, regarding our roots, redemption and relationships.

In the second week of this 20-week teaching series, Founding Pastor Rick Duncan guides us through the next few verses in Genesis, chapter 1. We'll spend time thinking about the beauty and majesty of the place He created and how that ought to foster an awe of God (worship) and care of the planet (stewardship). But because of the Fall, paradise was lost. We rebelled and the whole of creation was plunged into chaos. Even the beauty that we now see is a broken, marred, wild and a shadow of what once was. Jesus has come to rescue His people and to rescue our place which are the heavens and the earth. Jesus is the central character in the story of creation. One day, when Christ returns, the heavens and the earth will be restored. Are we allowing God to prepare us for THAT place?

Genesis: The beginning. When it all began. How it all began. It's our story: Our collective narrative | Our history | Our roots--created for relationships from our inception--designed to experience the joy of being interconnected with others, yet finding our sin and selfishness hurting those we care about most. It is the constant reminder that even in the aftermath of our worst failures, the One who made it all lovingly provides a way of redemption, and that from the beginning He has provided a solution long before we knew there was a problem. Genesis reminds us of our roots, improves our relationships and encourages us with the message of redemption. In week one of this 20 week series, Lead Pastor Chad Allen introduces us to the book of Genesis and the creating that God did in Genesis 1.

LifeHouses have the heart and the means to bless others with their resources as they actively love their neighbors. We are told to owe no one anything but love. Love leads us to tangible expressions, which usually require the use of resources like money and possessions. If we are to love our neighbors well we need to be positioned for generosity. Many of us are too much in debt to be generous, but we are to use our resources to love our neighbors. The best LifeHouse is a financially-free house. This is a call to reduce and illuminate personal and corporate debt in order to be a better LifeHouse and to love better. Lead Pastor Chad Allen brings us home in the fourth week of this Spring 2014 teaching series as he guides us through Romans 13:8-10. We'll learn to love our neighbors as LifeHouses.

We can tend to be like the lawyer, the ones who want to rationalize and justify whey we aren't loving our neighbors. Or we can be so religious, self-righteous, and busy that we pass by all the broken people in our neighborhoods. Jesus is calling us to have open eyes, an open heart, and open hands. We are called to be the Unexpected Hero of our neighborhood's stories. Will we go and be like the Good Samaritan?
