Hey! I’m Jolene, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, wife, furry guardian, gardener, and non-bendy yogi. For as long as I could remember I chased weight loss in the hope of feeling better. Like literally lost and gained the same 80 lbs 3 times! Trying every popular diet that came out, falling for the promises and fitness plans that just took my money and left me worse off than I started. I was working nonstop in the corporate world and the burnout was real. I finally learned that I needed to take a holistic approach and focus on total health to give my body what it needs to thrive! But more importantly, I realized only I had the power to make the changes and they had to fit into my life. Now I share simple strategies that continue to work as we age. There’s no one size fit’s all approach, the only thing that works is tailoring to what your body needs at the moment. It also requires taking a look at more than just the food. Don’t worry though, it’s all about making small changes to support and improve health to be able to enjoy our golden years. The time is now before you are too ill to do anything.
If you are ready to find a health plan that is tailored to YOU and your current health, find solutions that are broken into simple steps to make it easy to implement. Results that are undeniable, like more energy, improved mood, better sleep, and fat loss, this is the podcast for you!
Pop in those headphones, take a deep breath, and let's get healthier together!

The discussion today revolved around, the issue with the JAMA study and how it portrayed intermittent fasting due to the participants eating whatever they wanted and how much they wanted. They also consumed non-caloric drinks during their fasting periods. We discussed how the sweet taste affects the brain and releases insulin and how insulin then stores fat. We also discussed the concept of calories in versus calories out.
With what was covered this week I ask you to start reducing your sweeteners while you're fasting, remove them, try to fast clean, hit the minimum of 16 hours and try to cut out processed foods. Let's work on getting everything cleaned up, but take baby steps. If you're drinking a lot of diet drinks, cut them out first, then work on cleaning up the food and then work on your 16 hours. See how you feel.

In Episode 2 I discuss the basics of a ketogenic diet and t the subtle differences of the ketogenic diet in relation to a low carb diet as well as go through the basics of Macros what are they how to know how much and the ranges you need to be in.
For Macro tracking I suggest using Cron-O-Meter. It can be used directly in a browser or downloaded as an app on a smart device.
Let's work on shifting the focus to health. This episode I share a little about me and my feelings on the importance of finding what is best for you. Making a lifestyle change means it has to be something that works in your lifestyle. Is it keto, low carb, fasting?
