Luis Severino gave the Mets the start they needed and put them in position to win with huge hits from JD Martinez, Jose Iglesias, Jesse Winker and Mark Vientos. As usual, Tyrone Taylor got things going and the Mets have their first lead in a postseason series since 2015. The storybook season continues and the Mets head into game 2 with the chance to guarantee home playoff games in 2024.
