MFX Podcast

It’s that time once again – MFX is back to bring you the kind of loosely based around pro wrestling podcast that will tickle your funny bone until you squirt. Join your heroes Duckman and Sir Ian Trumps as they traverse the week in pro wrestling, pop culture and everything in between. On the show this week…

It’s the first show of 2019 and the lads have got SOOOOO much to talk about.  Duckman has had a fun week on Twitter, thanks to Dave Meltzer not understanding a joke and then unleashing the smarks of the world on our poor feathered friend.  Get the inside story as Duckman and Sir Ian rip the piss out of Uncle Dave, his mouth breathing smart arse followers and everyone else.  The lads come out swinging and it’s plenty of fun.

This is a full on pro-wrestling show as the lads discuss everything around All Elite Wrestling, WWE and what this all means for the world of pro wrestling.  There’s also two full reviews of NXT Takeover and the Royal Rumble show.  The show is wrapped up, as always, with the Try Hard Ruler of the Week nominations.  Three big stories this week about scary hang-gliding, a PR mistake involving a famous pervert and a silly celebrity tattoo.  It’s one of our most fun shows ever and plenty of laughs are had at the expense of Meltzer, his minions, WWE’s weird booking, how sexy Ted Bundy is and so much more!

So sit back, relax and get your ear holes primed for some seriously entertaining MFX goodness. The pro wrestling podcast that’s so good, you don’t even need to like pro wrestling to enjoy it!

As always thanks for listening and be sure to get involved with the show through all the usual channels.

Welcome one and welcome all, the bar is open, the drinks are poured, so raise a glass and let’s get all fucked up on the biggest nerd news stories of the past couple of weeks. Join your heroes Duckman and Marc Abrigo as they give nerd news the full 3PB treatment. On the show this week…

It’s comic book TV show mania on 3PB this week!  The lads discuss DC’s Titans and Netflix’s Punisher Season 2.  You won’t find two more violent comic book shows anywhere else…because Netflix are dicks and they cancelled Daredevil.  A fun chat about both shows.

We live in a Spider-Man world these days, so of course the lads talk about the Spider-Man: Far from Home trailer.  More movie chat as the lads cover Glass and the Ghostbusters sequel news.  Then it’s prequel chat with news on The Sopranos prequel movie and also the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel show.  A damn fun show that covers a ton of geek news topics.  Enjoy!

Happy New Year MFX Galaxy!!  The first week of the new year and we’re back with so much nerd news and discussion we had to make a podcast that goes well over 2 hours to cover it all.  The lads catch up on what they’ve been up to over Christmas and New Year.  They talk all the nerd movies they’ve watched with Marc giving none spoilers reviews of Aquaman, Spider-man Into the Spiderverse and Bumblebee.  Duckman talks Teen Titans Go to the Movies, The Incredibles 2 and the bizarre and ground breaking interactive Black Mirror movie Bandersnatch.  Plus we hear Marc get all fired up about people talking during movies.

The new Hellboy movie trailer has been released and the lads aren’t that impressed.  Duckman marks the hell out for the CW Network’s Elsewords cross over event with Arrow, Flash and Supergirl.  Marc has more news on Fallout 76 disasters.  Plus Duckman has a bit of a rant about people complaining about the recent series of Dr Who.  A damn fun show and a great start to the new year with MFX.

The lads discuss Owen Wilson doing an advert for sofas in the UK and try out their terrible Owen Wilson impressions.  Thankfully that doesn’t last long as the they get into the real big geek news story of the week – The Avengers: End Game trailer!! They give their thoughts on the trailer, speculate on the plot of the movie and Marc gets his little nerd panties in an excited bunch about HawkEye’s move to the Ronin character.  Plus they discuss the Captain Marvel trailer, what impact that movie could have on End Game and more.  Plenty of fun chat for you fans of the MCU.

It’s not all MCU chat though – there’s some DC movie chat as the lads discuss the upcoming Joker movie, which leads into talk about the upcoming Aquaman movie and if it could finally be the DC movie that everyone likes.  Plus they talk a little about Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse.

Duckman is furious and heartbroken that Netflix have cancelled his favourite TV show – Daredevil.  There’s plenty of discussion about the most recent season, the future for the show possibly with Disney on their streaming service.  Marc buries Fall Out 76 and explains why this game is one of the biggest commercial disasters in years.  They also talk all things micro-transactions in gaming and how damn annoying it is.

Big news with Black Panther being nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globes and the lads discuss this and also some of the other movies and shows nominated for the Globes.  The wrap up the show with some chat about who could possibly host the Oscars.  Oh and Duckman explains a new racial slur to Abrigo.  A damn fun show that covers a ton of geek news topics.  Enjoy!

Marc gets his chance to respond to Sir Ian’s somewhat harsh comments on the first episode of the show.  As you’d expect from Abrigo, his response is catty, passive aggressive and hellish funny.

With that out of the way, Duckman and Marc give their thoughts on the life, career and impact on pop culture that the mighty Stan Lee had.  A true icon may have sadly left us, but he left behind a body of work that will last for generations to come.

They also talk about news of the potential new writer and director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 – which leads to talk about Transformers and the upcoming BumbleBee movie.  There’s tons of news about great TV shows being made into movies. The lads break this all down in detail with chat about Deadwood, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad and what the movies might be like.

More casting news on the Mandalorian is out and Marc gives us all the lowdown.  Of course Marc is all over the new Detective Pikachu trailer, Duckman isn’t so hyped.  Duckman wraps the show with a tribute to William Goldman, two time Oscar winning writer, who passed away recently and gives his review of one of his favourite movies of all time that Goldman won an Oscar for – Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.

Sir Ian is not happy.  The super successful launch of the MFXtra show ‘3 Pints with Betty’ with Duckman and Marc Abrigo has left Sir Ian feeling left out, used, abused and worrying for his future in podcasting.  Join Sir Ian as he rants and raves about how Marc Abrigo has turned his loyal friend Duckman’s head and lead him down a path away from a hard working Englishman and into the world of cheap Asian labour.  The first shots are fired in the inter-MFX war between two awesome podcasts.

Once Sir Ian has calmed down enough to actually do the show it’s slice of MFX goodness with chat about the plethora of murder documentaries there are around today, Duckman has finally watched It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and he LOVES it, there’s a man who wants to legally change his age, the effect of the rapid progress of technology on society and so much more.  Plenty of laughs and insight here.

Loads of wrestling chat on the show this week as the lads discuss Crown Jewel, WWE’s distraction booking technique to take the heat off the show and onto them, Hulk Hogan’s return and previews of NXT Takeover: War Games and Survivor Series.

The show is wrapped up, as always, with the Try Hard Ruler of the Week Award.  Four crazy stories involving stupid robbers, a fake band going on tour, a drunk Irishman punching himself in the face to get out of a DUI charge and a bloke cleaning a fighter jet that cost the Airforce $66 million.

So sit back, relax and get your ear holes primed for some seriously entertaining MFX goodness. The pro wrestling podcast that’s so good, you don’t even need to like pro wrestling to enjoy it!

Oh my, what the hell is this?  A little MFXtra for you lucky people.  It’s the debut episode of Duckman and Marc Abrigo’s new show – 3 Pints with Betty.  It’s an excuse for them to reconnect as friends and also talk about nerd stuff that Sir Ian Trumps is too cool and busy to talk about on the regular MFX show.

This is the debut show, so the training wheels are still on and Marc is calling in from a hotel in Vegas after a Back Street Boys concert (of course he is).  But it’s a ton of fun, especially if you like silly jokes and giddy nerd chat.

The premise of the show is simple – the lads each pick 3 nerd/sport/pop culture stories that have caught their eye during the week and then discuss them in a hopefully entertaining way.  If they like the story it’s 3 pints, if they only think it’s ok it’s 2 pints and if they don’t like it, it’s a 1 pint affair.

On the show this week it’s a variety bucket of stories, with talk about Star Wars spin-off movies, Daredevil season 3 and the canceled Marvel’s other Netflix shows, The Walking Dead, UFC and One doing the first fighter trade in MMA history, news on casting for DC’s Birds of Prey movie and Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spider-man on PS4.

It’s a fun show, filled with nerd chat and plenty of laughs.  Just the kind of stuff you’d expect when Duckman and Abrigo get together.  So get ready to get your nerd on and sink a couple of pints with Duckman and Betty.

NOTE – This show was recorded before the news about Roman Reigns broke this week.  That’s why we don’t mention it on the show.  It’s not that we’re dumb and don’t care.  We’re actually pretty smart and we do care.  Get well soon Roman!  Oh and ‘F’ cancer!

Find it hard to fly?  Get a bit stressed?  Can’t work out how to find alternative transport that doesn’t involve flying?  Then get yourself an emotional support animal.  The lads talk about stories involving emotional support squirrels, peacocks and hamsters.  As you would expect from MFX, they don’t take it very seriously or really show much sensitivity about the whole thing.

Always late to the show, the lads talk the Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov fight, post fight near riot and everything that lead to it.  Sir Ian thinks it’s all a work, Duckman doesn’t agree but does make the point that the UFC are culpable for the behaviour of their fighters, when they hype a fight on criminal behaviour.  Plus are these the only kind of fights the general public are really interested in?

All your emails are answered, with Brexit chat and an update on the latest terrible planning and administration of Scottish football.

Want some wrestling chat?  You’ve got it.  Unfortunately everyone wants the lads to talk about WWE Evolution and frankly the build and complete afterthought that the show has become is leaving them super uninspired about the whole thing.  They do get their mojo back when they’re asked to pick their teams for a wrestling World Cup.

The show is wrapped up as always with the Try Hard Ruler of the Week – with stories about a mayor lying about who is on social media, the Australian PM using a dodgy song, a hunter getting his comeuppance and an airline having a serious paint job fail.  Tons of fun with the Try Hards this week folks!

So sit back, relax and get your ear holes primed for some seriously entertaining MFX goodness. The pro wrestling podcast that’s so good, you don’t even need to like pro wrestling to enjoy it!

He’s only gone and done it again – Sir Ian is a Dad for the second time!  Massive congratulations to him and his lovely wife.  Sir Ian talks fatherhood, family and all that good stuff, before the lads get distracted by talk of Judge Reinhold, various 1980s sitcom stars and other such nonsense.

The lads become grumpy old men as they discuss a story about clapping being banned at Manchester University and replaced with jazz hands, so as not to upset approximately three people that might be upset by loud clapping.  Is this the end of days for humanity?  Probably.

Your emails are answered with LOADS of Star Wars chat – where the franchise goes in the next movie, if they made a big mistake with too much nostalgia and loads of other fun topics.  The future of movies/tv shows and streaming is a hot topic on this show too.

The wrestling part of the show is all about old guys wrestling slowly in WWE, annoying ass woke wrestling twitter nerds freaking out about Brie Bella botches, plus there’s chat about John Cena’s mid-life crisis, Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake and their weird relationship and some chat about the event coming up in Saudi Arabia and how ridiculous the whole arrangement is.

The show is wrapped up, as always, with the Try Hard Ruler of the Week – four crazy stories again this week with pole dancing at Kindergarten, wild fire caused by a gender reveal party, a kidnapping that was actually a prank and a woman who wrote a book about murdering her husband, who was arrested for murdering her husband.

There is no greater achievement in human history than reality TV, right?  Well the lads have found 15 of the weirdest, most inappropriate and downright messed up reality TV shows. They talk all the concepts, what they think of the shows, if they would be on them and pitch a few shows of their own.  Things kick up a notch as Duckman brings the wonder of Steven Seagal: Law Man, to the MFX Podcast!  The lads talk this amazing show, laugh far too much and have a damn good time making fun of the most ridiculous human in history.  Plus the lads pitch their own Celebrity Big Brother cast and what challenges they would make their victims…sorry contestants…do on the show.

Sports!  MFX loves them some sport.  So the lads talk Colin Kaepernick and his Nike deal, the NFL season (this show was recorded before the season started) and more.  The lads talk about their current schedule, how difficult it is to get the show recorded these days, but how much they love doing it.  It’s one of those, here’s what’s going on with MFX moments.

There’s some brief wrestling chat this week as the lads talk WWE’s all female PPV Evolution, the CM Punk v Colt Cabana law suit and why the cult of CM Punk still remains.

As always the show is wrapped up with the Try Hard Ruler of the Week Award.  More insane stories of people doing ridiculous Try Hard things.  Fake fish, stupid tatoos, burning Nike shoes, Jimmy Saville and a Japanese couple who don’t know how to have sex are battling it out this week.  It’s fun stuff as always MFX Galaxy.
