Dear friend,

This is the first podcast for March 21. I'm in my 12th month keeping you company in these strange times. I have no plan or reason or rationale as I sit down each weekend at the microphone. Only a sense of enthusiasm about talking to you. And a sense that inside in the core of who I am, there is someone talking to me. If you're looking for conventional religion, this podcast might not be for you. I'm a writer and storyteller who uses memoir as the source of my narratives. And in podcasting I've found a new form to share a deeper and more intimate angle on my story; it's the sense that it's not me that's telling it. A sense that I am only the scrawl of a pen in someone else's hand.

I did this particular podcast this morning, for no reason. I just felt enthusiastic and grateful to be alive. Hope you like it.

Yes it's all here in one heartfelt podcast for the Valentines day weekend. Trying to share in a poetic and florid language of 16th century the same old truth; Go into the heart and the heart will teach you everything. Big podcast with another one on Sunday Morning. Don't worry, I'm not gone mad on religion. I'm just using it as a kind of life raft to survive in these times. it's a boat. it will get me across a particular river. and when I get to the other side, I will lay down the boat, and walk on without it.

A remembrance of times long ago. Talking about Kinnegad in the old days and an amazing story from a woman whose mother died young. Listen closely to get this image of the Priest in the house, trying to take the children away. Oh dear! But wasn't her father a good man. He spoke up for his children. And then there's a few other memories of the time. Travellers. And of course the shot that ended the pheasant's life.

To have a room is good for mindfulness. For practicing what ever prayer you're into. But it's also the place where people write, create, dream and imagine.  

I love my room. it's a space where I become awake in the deepest way.
