Middle Class Film Class

The gang throws their fart this week as they review the first and last movie from acclaimed TV commercial man, Kinka Usher... Mystery Men. With an all-star cast and a theme song to match, this movie should have been a smash-mouth hit, but instead was a financial and critical bomb. Was Mystery Men ahead of its time, or too far behind? Is it fun enough to watch today, or so bad that it's bad? Watch along on Amazon Prime, then listen to Pete and Joseph give their review. No Tyler this week

The gang does an Obama impression this week as they review the Terry Gilliam adaptation of the story of Percival, The Fisher King. Jeff Bridges & Robin Williams lead the show in the story of a shock jock coming to terms with his place in life, after his fall from grace. Helping him find his way and his purpose is a homeless man who is living in the aftermath of the disaster created by the radio DJ. Picked by Tyler, and essentially a first watch for all 3 of host, follow along as the gang dissects this Criterion 90's Classic.

The gang gets falsely accused this week as they review the Danish stress-test movie, The Hunt. Vastly different than the 2020 successor of the same name, this skin-crawling drama tells the story of a middle-aged man who teaches Kindergarten defending his name after false child molestation charges surface in his small town. You definitely need to be in the right headspace for this film, but once you are... watch the movie then chime in to tell Pete, Joseph and Tyler who you aligned with.

The gang ride the segway this week as they review Joseph's pick from the wheel of destiny, Paul Blart: Mall Cop. One of the many Happy Madison production films that grossed an ungodly amount of money while remaining rotten on Rotten Tomatoes. What's the deal? Does Blart get too much hate? Tune in to hear Pete and Joseph hash it out, while Tyler is out delivering Christmas packages.

The gang comes makes it weird this week, as they review Tyler's pick from the Wheel of Destiny, Cyrus, starring John C Reilly, Jonah Hill, and Marisa Tomei. An indie-ish movie that is unequivocally a Duplass joint, Cyrus lets the strong comedic performances of Reilly and Hill shine through, while highlighting the sweetly aggressive chemistry from the blossoming relationship of John and Molly. Watch along on Max, then find out how Pete, Joseph, and Tyler liked it.
