Middle Class Film Class

The gang dives head first into one of Heather's favorite genres this week: Gerard Butler Trash Action... as they review the movie that spawned the Has Fallen Cinematic Universe, Olympus Has Fallen. While admittedly being a cheesy pie action movie, this non-stop action explosion of a movie was also directed by Antoine Fuqua, so you know it's gonna have some style that AVOD movies from today just don't have. Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckart, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, and Ashley Judd all do their part to make this popcorn flick the best DVD in the Walmart DVD bin.

The gang chooses sides this week, as they review the much maligned political satire wrapped up in a human hunting story, The Hunt (2020). What may go down as the most unlucky film release of all time, this twice delayed film that was the final major release in March of 2020 before the COVID shut down will never know what true potential could have been in store for it. While pissing off both sides of the political spectrum sounds like a recipe for financial failure, it's hard to deny the sheer fun factor. This is Jospeh's pick this week, as he wanted us to re-review this one, since Tyler slept through most of it back in March of 2020. Listen to that old episode here...

The gang watches Gary Oldman in the role of a lifetime this week, as they dive toes first into the ill-fated tone deaf disaster, Tiptoes (2003). Conceived by writer/director Matthew Bright when he was 18 as "a story of a bunch of dwarves [humping] each other" the exact reasons behind how this dumpster fire of a movie made it to production is a mystery. And even more mysterious is how it made it to premier, then distribution. Watch along on Amazon Prime, Roku, and Pluto to find out if Pete and Joseph are exaggerating or not

The gang gets shell shocked this week as they review the OG live-action 90's comic book and video game movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Pete's pick from the wheel, which is somehow a blindspot for him... did the guys find nostalgia working for the movie or against it? Dust off your VHS tapes, grab a Domino's Pizza (no anchovies) and tune in to find out.

The gang gets eaten alive this week as they review the infamous Werner Herzog documentary, Grizzly Man (2005). Follow along with Timothy Treadwell, a conservationist who spend 13 summers in an Alaskan wildlife refuge living amongst the bears in an effort to protect them. Told from archival footage, shot by Tim himself, this realistic look at the reality of Tim Treadwell's obsession with bears... whether he was helping or hurting them... and his ultimate death and consumption at the hand of the bears which is loved so much.
