Middle Class Film Class

The gang gets schooled in the fine art of sketch comedy by Cool-Ass Yard Duty, Heather, as they review her Patreon pick from the wheel of destiny... The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977). The original ZAZ production that no one believed in except Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker themselves, TKFM spoofed pop culture of the time whether it be movies, commercials, or real life oddities with almost zero regard for class or tact. You can arguably draw a direct line from THFM to many modern comedies, in their inspiration. But will all that be enough to leave a good impression on Pete, Tyler, and Joseph?

The gang kicks Wolfman in the nards this week, as they review the spooky 80's childhood classic, The Monster Squad (1987). Imagine the Avengers, but it's Universal classic monsters instead of Marvel super heroes. And the only force brave enough to take them on and save the world is a club of monster movie enthusiasts that meet in a treehouse, and casually throw around homophobic slurs. That more or less sums up this super fun adventure movie written by Fred Dekker and Shane Black before anyone knew who Shane Black was. Streaming now on Hoopla and Showtime, so you can watch the movie then listen along as decide who you side with when we grade this classic flick

The gang learns the meaning of Wasted Potential this week, as they review the 4th offering from director Duncan Jones... Mute (2018). The first Netflix original movie from Germany, and directed by the son of David Bowie, starring Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd, yet still this project seems to be a doomed one. The official soft sequel to Moon, but lacking all the charm of that freshman movie, Mute seems to be a movie that most people watch and forget, or never give the time of day. Watch on Netflix, then find out if you agree, or are a Mute apologist.
