This week on Middle Theory, we analyze the ongoing controversies surrounding Wikileaks and the alleged Russian hack of DNC servers, as well as the recent shooting attack at the Fort Lauderdale Airport.

Happy New Year, first of all... kicking things off with those Societal Matters, Micah and McNonymous get all discussion of 2017 nomenclature out of the way, and then examine Anonymous and their recent hacking of the Bilderberg group's website. We also look at the shocking live streaming of a hate crime on Facebook, and how the technology of social media affects such issues.

On the discussion of technology, hacking is all the rage lately, as the ongoing debate over Russian hacking, Wikileaks, and the 2016 US Election continues. Many would assert that the debate is over, and that intelligence agencies have already released enough data that supports this. However, Wikileaks founder and spokesman Julian Assange maintains that Russia was in no way involved with the hack, which has recently made him strange bedfellows with conservative commentator Sean Hannity, of all people. What does this very unique Fox News interview with Assange tell us about the Grizzly Steppe operation, and U.S. Intelligence Agencies perception of Russia in relation to world affairs?

Finally, we examine the recent tragic shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport, and why this incident is unique among mass shootings in America. Despite its differences, there are also many consistent elements, which raise questions about mental health, as well as the effectiveness of airport screening procedures.

Finally, we give a breakdown of the events pertaining to the release of the joint DHS and FBI "Grizzly Steppe" document, which seems to provide proof of Russia's involvement in attempts to steer the 2016 U.S. Election... or does it? Despite the evidence provided, there are a number of questions that continue to linger, which range from idiosyncrasies in the wording within the document itself, to why Wikileaks continues to deny to Russia's involvement in leaking information from DNC emails to the public. Does the "Grizzly Steppe" affair offer closure, or just more questions?

This week on Middle Theory, President Obama and his departure from the presidency is examined, during the final days of his second term.

We kick things off this week on Middle Theory with a bit of holiday cheer, as well as some commentary on Christmas sweaters. More specifically, Samantha Bee and Glenn Beck donned their tackiest Christmas pullovers to sit down and have a chat about community, cooperation, and catastrophism across party lines in the face of "Trumpism". We also take a look at how Trump has apparently threatened to upend US nuclear weapons policy, which seems to contrast strangely with Trump releasing a letter from Putin asking to 'restore' US-Russia relationship.

Then in the second part of the show, we examine President Obama's "exit strategy", in terms of how his final days in audience will likely reflect on or influence world affairs. Key to this are how Obama sees the strength and unity of the Democratic party, as well as how Obama could influence the international climate during his final days in office, in keeping with ongoing controversies about Russian influence during the recent U.S. election.

This week on Middle Theory, we pick up where we left off last week with a simple question: if there is no basement at Comet Ping Pong, the infamous epicenter of the silly "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory, then why did the restaurant's owner describe using the basement for storage in an interview only months ago? Then, moving on to bigger better things (that aren't related to the Fake News epidemic), we consider how DNA test might lead to the discovery of the perfect ceremonial Dad Juice.

Meanwhile, the big news this week has to do with whether Russia was indeed involved with swaying the recent the U.S. election. As Obama defends his handling of Russian meddling ahead of election, telling the press that, "We handled it the way we should have". However, there are conflicting reports that involve a secret CIA assessment that says Russia was trying to help Trump win, compared with Harry Reid's allegations that the FBI covered up Russian influence on Trump's election win. All that notwithstanding, there is the claim of an ex-British ambassador, now a WikiLeaks operative, who claims Russia did NOT provide Clinton emails, but that they were handed over to him at a D.C. park by an intermediary for 'disgusted' Democratic whistleblowers. If true, what would this make of the CIA's assessment that Russia was involved?

On this edition of Middle Theory, our resident wardens of liberty embark upon a quest to understand one of the greatest riddles of our time: why do so many people believe in the "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory?

The mainstream media correctly asserts that there is very little fact to support the numerous claims involving John Podesta, the Clintons, an unusually-named pizzeria in Washington, and a secret child-abuse ring. However, what they are missing has to do with numerous similar allegations that have been made over the years, which in part help inform the culture of belief associated with the bizarre Pizzagate affair.

Are some of the similar claims of abuse that have surfaced over the years indeed legitimate? And if so, why does this lead people to want to directly associate them with the strange references to "pizza" in John Podesta's emails?

On this week's edition of Middle Theory, The Mouth and McNonymous nominate their picks for 2016 Person of the Year, as we look at a number of noteworthy events of the year and those involved.

Kicking things off, our friendly neighborhood Sentinels begin with a discussion pertaining to ceremonial beverages, chili-cookoffs, and the most obscure holiday to be celebrated on December 1st, which some might call the "Feast of the Beast". Meanwhile, as wildfires sweep the Southeast, we provide an update on Kanye West's "strange" condition, and the way conspiracy theories are being associated with his sudden bout with paranoia and depression. We then look at how this all relates to "Pizzagate", and how that is related to the similarly-titled "Twittergate", and recent allegations of sex abuse by sports players in the UK.

Finally, we get to our discussion of the Middle Theory 2016 "Person of the Year", where we nominate a handful of individuals which we ask the listenership of the Middle Theory Podcast to select their favorite (or make further nominations (you can email us, or Tweet at us with your choices). On this edition of Middle Theory, we examine reports of "fake news", and examine whether even credible news sources can be relied upon for honest, and unbiased reporting.

Whether it's "post-truth" being cited as Oxford Dictionaries 2016 word of the year, or it's rampant claims of "fake news" and sensational media used to steer public opinion, 2016 has indeed been a year for questioning the media representation of reality. First, we look at the way "citizen journalists" have claimed to unravel a nefarious plot within John Podesta's leaked emails, which has been dubbed "Pizzagate." How much verifiable information can be attributed this story, apart from pure speculation, and does the attention this is getting actually detract from legitimate focus that could be given to organizations that help fight human trafficking, slavery, and sexual abuse?

Elsewhere, our major networks, it seems, are run by Machiavellian Phonies, Frauds, and Hucksters that realize that "the ends justify the means"... something we've been saying here on Middle Theory for a long time. Reports of "Fake News" range from a study on Facebook's partisan fake news, which asks if Facebook is manipulating people’s newsfeeds to show fake, partisan stories; we also look at whether Facebook may be experimenting with software that censors posts in other countries.

We also look at the latest developments with Trump's transition, and the latest additions to the roster, Betsy DeVos and SC Governor Nikki Halley, and the possible inclusions of outspoken Trump rival Mitt Romney as Secretary of State, as well as former GOP hopeful Ben Carson for HUD director.

This week on Middle Theory, the Mouth and McNonymous are picking up the pieces as the sky apparently continues to fall in America following the election of Donald Trump.

As the United States (and the rest of the world) attempt to find balance in the wake of Donald Trump's surprise victory in the 2016 U.S. election, we look at a bit of non-election news, before easing into a discussion that includes some audio gold Mr. McNonymous found. While the delivery is a satirical display by an angry Brit, the dialogue provided hits the core of the problem we are seeing with issues involving globalization, as well as what is perceived as general elitism in government.

What will a Donald Trump presidency mean for America, as well as its foreign allies, institutions like NATO, and the global economy? Only time will tell... and we take an introspective look at things on this special post-election edition of Middle Theory.

This week on Middle Theory, the boys in the bunker bring election coverage in the hours leading up to the final countdown of election 2016.

As Americans take to the polls across the country, election fraud, voter intimidation, and a number of other issues face the American people... in addition to the media treatment of an already bizarre and polarized election season. Hence, we take time to examine a number of the stranger election-related stories to have emerged in the last few days; including the recent, ridiculous claim that John Podesta's emails contain a code for child sex. Elsewhere, we've seen 'Alt Right Conspiracy Theorists' obsessing over ‘Pizza’ references in Podesta's emails, and the bizarre theories about references to “Spirit Cooking” and allegations of a strange, ritual dinner... all of which appear to be pure speculation.

Such was the case with Steve Pieczenik's claims of a 'Clinton Takeover' of the U.S. and the ‘Secret American Revolution’, in advance of election 2016... meanwhile, actual polls in advance of the election seem to show Hillary Clinton with a slight edge over Donald Trump, whose family says he will accept the results of a "fair" election. What qualifies as "fair" to either candidate may be anyone's guess...
