  • Ep. 28: Vitamin D, Sleep, and the Microbiome, Part 1, with Dr. Stasha Gominak

Way before COVID-19 came around, Dr. Stasha Gominak was discussing the role of vitamin D for our sleep, mental well-being, immunity, microbiome, bone and skin health, and prevention of chronic disease. Dr. Stasha Gominak is a Neurologist who left her practice to focus solely on treating neurological illness by improving sleep.  Our body repairs itself through sleep, yet sleep problems have become an epidemic since the 80s when everyone started wearing sunscreens and started spending more time indoors.  Vitamin D is well-known as the "bone vitamin or the sun vitamin," but in reality vitamin D is a hormone that affects multiple parts of our body, but we do make it through sun exposure.  Dr. Gominak provides a thorough understanding of the correlation between vitamin D, vitamin B , the microbiome, and sleep disorders.

You may discover that your insomnia, fatigue, nightly leg pains or burning, weight gain, mood or memory problems, high blood pressure, reproductive or fertility problems, or autoimmune disorders, are the result of these vitamin deficiencies, gut imbalances, and poor sleep! She also discusses that the similar issues are happening in childhood resulting in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and even autism. She discusses some interesting findings related to the neurotransmitter, Acetylcholine, as it relates to the parasympathetic nervous system (rest/digest system), nicotine, and its role being a inflammatory pathway.

  • Ep. 27: Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn: Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, Here's How!

It was my honor to interview Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn! He is well-known for his role in the Forks Over Knives documentary and his revolutionary, scientifically proven book, How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, both advocate for whole foods plant based diet to prevent and reverse disease. Dr, Esselstyn is an American physician who has been associated with the Cleveland clinic since 1968, and presently directs the cardiovascular prevention and reversal program at The Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute.

In this episode, he explains the underlying cause of heart disease, and all underlying vascular diseases, such as diabetes vascular dementia, high blood pressure, and Alzheimers. It is well-known that most diabetics die from heart disease rather than diabetes itself. He says it is damage to the endothelial vessels and loss of nitric oxide that contributes to these diseases. Based on the evidence he has seen, he is strongly against oils that are touted as beneficial, such as olive oil. He explains in his article, Is Oil Healthy?  Dr. Esselstyn shows that cardiovascular disease is not malignant, and it can be reversed through a plant-based diet. You will leave this interview empowered knowing you have the power to change your health and your life, you don't have to be a victim to your genes or chronic disease! Enjoy the podcast!

  • Ep. 26: Stop Smoking Now & Forever, with Allen Carr's Easyway, Natalie Clays

Ep. 26:  Stop Smoking Now & Forever, with Allen Carr's Easyway, Natalie Clays, Therapist, Director & Facilitator at Allen Carr's EasyWay USA/ANZ. Natalie is the quit smoking therapist that people have turned to, so they can kick the habit once and for all! Natalie was addicted to smoking from the age of 15 and carried on for years! Like so many people, she had tried every method available to stop, but nothing worked! That is until she attended a one day Allen Carr seminar, which would change her life forever! Not only did she stop smoking, but the experience impacted her so much that she left her job and trained to become an Allen Carr therapist, where she could help others break free from the addiction! She went on to expand in Australia, New Zealand, and just recently, the United States!
This conversation is like no other I have had about smoking. We all know smoking is bad for us and leads to premature death, but Natalie explains that for smokers, that is not what it is about. She provides great insight to the mind of the smoker, internal battles they face, and why they often feel their life will no longer be the same or enjoyable without smoking. This discussion isn't about the health detriments of smoking, but it is about the mental aspect of smoking. She says that addiction of any kind is 99% mental, and 1% physical. She changes the way you view the cigarette, and how you can gain your power back from it. She explains why Allen Carr's method is so different and successful than other methods. This method also comes with a money-back guarantee, so it is very low-risk to give it a try in hopes of breaking free from the bondage of smoking! Natalie is awesome and so relatable, and I know you will get great value from this conversation! Enjoy the talk!

  • Ep. 24: Nitric Oxide, The Miracle Molecule, with Scientist & Expert, Dr. Nathan Bryan

Ep. 24:  When I wanted to learn more about the nitric oxide as it relates to aging and disease, I did not realize I was consulting with the world's leading authority and expert, Dr. Nathan Bryan! Dr. Bryan is an international leader in molecular medicine and nitric oxide biochemistry. In addition, Dr. Bryan was actually the first person to describe "nitrite and nitrate as indispensable nutrients required for optimal cardiovascular health!" He has spent 20 years in nitric oxide research, and he shares how the loss of nitric oxide production is recognized as the earliest event in the onset and progression of almost all diseases! The loss of nitric oxide can occur also due to stress, sugar diet, smoking, aging itself, diabetes, lack of exercise, and many other factors! Dr. Bryan says we are as old as our arteries, and discusses how changes can start taking place in childhood when kids eat a poor diet. He talks about his latest book, Functional Nitric Oxide Nutrition, which is all about what we should be eating, like a lot of green leafy vegetables. He also talks about big nitric oxide disruptors, such as the use of mouthwash and proton pump inhibitors, which an estimated 15 million Americans are taking on a daily basis for gastric reflux! These and other factors lead to loss of nitric oxide contributing to disease, loss of sexual function (he said erectile dysfunction is one of the earliest signs), and early death. Nitric oxide even plays a role in the outcome of COVID-19. Unbelievably intelligent man, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to interview him! He literally shares life-changing information!

  • Ep. 21: Paralympian and Inspirational Speaker, Steve Emt

Steve Emt is a true inspiration. He experienced a tragic accident at the age of 25 and woke up two days later to learn he would never walk again. One decision to get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol changed the trajectory of his whole life. Rather than spend his life as a victim of his story, he chose to be the hero of his story. He ignited his love for athletics by becoming a coach and an athlete again himself by becoming a Paralympian! He competed in the 2018 Paralympic games and is currently training for a spot on the 2022 US Paralympian Team for curling! He is also a father, and an inspirational speaker that loves to share his story with others, especially young adults, in hopes of sparing them the same fate he met as a result of making one wrong decision. Steve's story is incredible and he is living proof that you can overcome adversity and that your life is only as good as your mindset!
