Christian persecution has been intensifying around the world. In 1948, when he was five years old, his father, Haralan Popov, a prominent Protestant minister, was brutally taken from his family by the KGB and arrested on false charges of being a -spy for America.- Paul, along with his family, were branded as -enemies of the state.---On February 24, 2022, at the direction of Vladimir Putin, Russian forces invaded Ukraine. There's been destruction, devastation, air strikes, artillery bombardment, hunger, displacement, families separated and more. --According to Paul, over the past 15 months, 3 to 4 million people have been able to leave Ukraine, heading for Poland, Germany, Sweden and other nations. The Ukrainian death toll currently stands at about 100,000.--Typically, summer is a time for youth outreach by DOHI in Ukraine. However, the places to do this have no bomb shelters nearby, so obviously it would be irresponsible to bring children to such places. --Regarding believers in general, Paul reported that Ukraine is a Christian nation, with even the leadership being very pro-Christian.
