There are many fiery situations in the world right now. In Iran, millions have been on the streets protesting with thousands killed by the Shia Islamist regime led by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who is on the brink of being ousted due to economic decline and repressive rule. This situation has significant ramifications for stability in the Middle East and even the end times.

Here in my home state of Minnesota, violent confrontations continue against ICE agents by protesters and paid agitators and rioters, as agents search for and arrest illegal immigrants. President Trump has stated he is considering employing the Insurrection Act to use military force to quell the obstruction and violence which has been incited by MN Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

There are other fires—in Venezuela after the U.S. captured their Communist narco-terrorist president Nicolas Maduro; in England and Australia which are threatening and arresting their own citizens for social media content against Islam; in Ukraine where the intractable, deadly war with Russia continues.

And yet all these fires at home and abroad are far less significant and lasting than what the Bible describes as the “unquenchable fire” of hell.

Hell is an issue that is almost unspeakable, and rightly so, because of the horror of what it is—eternal conscious torment for all who have rejected God by not believing in His Son’s substitutionary death and resurrection on the sinner’s behalf. In fact, the final destination for non-believers is described this way in Revelation 20: “if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Because hell is so horrific and never ending, there are many who question God’s character in sending people there. They say, “I know sin offends the holy God, but punishment for eternity in hell is disproportionate to the crime.”

Kirk Cameron, actor and Christian influencer and author, who has worked and associated with many sound Christians like Ray Comfort, Ken Ham, and John MacArthur, announced on his podcast recently that he no longer believes that hell is eternal conscious torment but rather that an unbeliever is eventually annihilated. In other words, unbelievers do go to hell for punishment but at some point they go out of existence.

This is certainly not the first time the eternality of hell has been challenged and it won’t be the last. Todd Friel, pastor of Alpharetta Bible Church in Georgia and host of Wretched, which produces radio and TV programs, joins us this weekend to examine what the Bible teaches about hell. Is hell being eternal an important doctrine to stand firm on? Is there a biblical basis that unbelievers are annihilated in hell, in light of what Jesus said in John 10, “fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”?

The Christian Worldview has been broadcasting from the Minneapolis area of Minnesota for over 20 years. The city and state were once known for its natural resources, the forested and agricultural regions and “10,000 lakes,” along with its citizens being mostly descendants of Scandinavian countries with a cultural ethos known as “Minnesota Nice.”

While there has always been a significant conservative and Christian presence in Minnesota (Billy Graham’s ministry was once based here and pastor John Piper is from Minneapolis), the state has leaned liberal for half a century. For example, Ronald Reagan won 49 of 50 states in the 1984 presidential election—you can probably guess the state he didn’t.

In the last 20 years or so, Minnesota has moved from liberal to radically left. It has declared itself a “sanctuary state” for abortion and transgender mutilation surgeries and treatments. It is known for high taxes to fund liberal welfare policies and immigrants from third world nations like Somalia. It gained international notoriety for the death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis police officers and the resulting burning of the city by rioters. It is led by far left politicians like Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey, and many more with the same worldview.

Just recently, Minneapolis again became the flashpoint of the biggest national news story after a 23-year-old independent journalist from Utah named Nick Shirley came to town on the tip that the Somali Muslim immigrant community, of which there are an estimated 100,000 in the state, are operating the largest scale welfare fraud in history by setting up fake child daycare centers, nutrition and autism services, transportation services, amongst other things, and then billing the state for services that weren’t rendered to the tune of an estimated $9 billion. This funded not just lavish lifestyles but Islamic jihadists in Somalia and potentially the Democrat Party.

As the enormity of the fraud story was being exposed, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers entered Minnesota to find and deport illegal immigrants. Not surprisingly, leftist protesters interfered with ICE agents, with one protester being killed after she used her vehicle to block ICE vehicles and then drove toward an officer who shot her dead. Major protests from the left across the country are ongoing.

Liz Collin, a Minnesota native and multi-Emmy-Award-winning investigative reporter for Alpha News, joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss what is taking place in Minnesota and how it is a critical warning for the rest of the country when leftism and Islamic immigrants hold power.

The Book of Proverbs was written to be profitable to all readers but is particularly directed to young men. One of the prominent exhortations and warnings for sons in Proverbs is on the issue of moral purity. Listen to Proverbs 5:18-23:

Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice in the wife of your youth.

As a loving hind and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
Be exhilarated always with her love.

For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress
And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord,
And He watches all his paths.

His own iniquities will capture the wicked,
And he will be held with the cords of his sin.

He will die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.

God wonderfully designed us with the ability to procreate and to enjoy the one-flesh dynamic of sexual intimacy within the one-man one-woman marriage covenant, all to His glory. But what God beautifully designed is what the devil, the world, and our flesh relentlessly corrupts. God says, “rejoice in the wife of your youth.” Satan says, “Do whatever you want with whomever you want.”

And the destruction that results from lust and pornography and fornication and adultery and homosexuality and every other kind of sexual sin are everywhere—bondage to sin, broken marriages, sexually transmitted diseases, and alienation from God. Because of the pull of sexual desire and the ubiquity of sexual sin, it’s common to conclude that God’s call for sexual purity—mentally and physically—is an impossible standard.

The Apostle Peter was inspired by God to write: “Be of sober spirit, be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished among your brethren who are in the world” (1 Peter 5:8-9).

The devil is the believer’s great adversary and he has a singular mission—to devour the Christian by tempting us to sin against God. Satan uses the fallen world and our sinful flesh to great effect. One of his favored means of destruction is corrupting God’s gift and design of sex for one-man one-woman marriage into a litany of perversions: fornication, adultery, lust, pornography, homosexuality, and more.

Consistent victory in this never-ending war is not simply a matter of having an accountability partner or putting a filter on your device. No, this calls for transformation of the heart and comprehensive preparation and plans of action, from being born again to pursuing sanctification to employing the supernatural resources God provides.

Christmas is upon us. While it’s easy to get distracted by all that competes for our attention—current events and politics, work and school, sports and recreation, travel and material things, even family and church—there is really only one most important issue and that is the person of Jesus Christ and what He has done for mankind.

Jesus said, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).

That couldn’t be more clear. Where you spend eternity hinges on whether you place your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Christmas is the time when Christians remember and celebrate God sending His Son into our world, born of a virgin woman, mighty and holy in word and deed, and loving and sacrificial in offering His perfect life to satisfy God’s wrath and justice for our sins.

Today will be a program to think about not Christmas generally, but the Christ of Christmas specifically. We will read God’s word, listen to some music, even do a Christmas quiz, all to appreciate and worship the God/Man, the Lord Jesus Christ. For none of us would have any hope without His “One Solitary Life”.

Five times each day the Muslim call to prayer sounds from mosques in Minneapolis. One might expect this in an Islamic country like Saudi Arabia or Iran, but in the United States, a nation that was founded and operated on distinctly Christian principles? The founders likely made the assumption that our nation would be and remain Christian, as early immigrants came from Christian European nations. They probably thought future Americans wouldn’t be so foolish as to welcome hundreds of thousands of Muslims.

But those with an unbiblical worldview of secular and religious humanism have taken power and hold to the spirit of Babel—that uniting all religions and peoples together will make us good and united. That will not work with Islam and its mission to dominate the world. Europe has puts its very existence at risk in bringing millions of Muslims into its nations and towns and now America is doing the same in Minneapolis, Dearborn, MI, New York City, and elsewhere.

Darrell Harrison, shepherding and teaching pastor at Redeemer Bible Church (Gilbert, AZ) and the co-host of the popular Just Thinking Podcast, joins us to explain how Islam is less a religion but rather a political ideology of domination and how Christians should respond.

As we approach Christmas, a date that has been traditionally set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, it’s remarkable to observe just how little all the hubbub around the “holidays” reflects this historic reason for the season.

Blow-up Santas adorn yards, endless ads in print and on television entice purchasing endless things, and background music in stores croon about snowflakes, Frosty, and jingle bells.

The obvious truth is this: the god of this world has successfully distracted and deceived society from focusing on the Christ of Christmas.

At the same time, national and world events draw our attention—heated debates over politicians and policies, the cost of living, taxation, normalization of sexual sin, abortion, Islamic immigration, deportation of illegal immigrants, support of Israel, and the list goes on.

While God designed us with the capacity to consider many different issues each day, one needs to be our priority, that “God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).

Grant Castleberry, pastor of The King’s Chapel in Raleigh, NC, joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to help us avoid the distractions and keep Christ at the center of this Christmas season. A former captain in the US Marine Corps, Grant, along with his wife, GraceAnna, are the authors of Manger in Danger, an excellent, gospel-centered 25-day devotional for families with children.

Grant will also explain how nations with Christian heritage, like England and the United States, have diverted from Christmas and the faith, become secularized and even welcomed Islamic immigration in the name of the false god of multiculturalism.

A small group of biblical Christians known as the the Pilgrims are widely considered to be “the founders of America”.

Numbering only about 400-500 souls, they had fled religious persecution in England to settle in Holland. But after ten years there, they decided on another move across the Atlantic Ocean to an unknown land that would become the United States.

About 50 Pilgrims were on the first vessel called The Mayflower, arriving in modern-day Cape Cod in Massachusetts in November 1620. One year later in November 1621, after a brutal winter in which many of them died, they celebrated a bountiful harvest with local Indians who had helped them in what has become known as the first Thanksgiving.

The Pilgrims and their biblical beliefs which led directly to the principles of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution 150 years have been mostly forgotten by the majority of our population. “Separation of church and state” is a sacrament of mainstream society today…but it wasn’t to the Pilgrims. They said they came to America “for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.”

Dr. Jerry Newcombe, producer of the documentary film, The Pilgrims, joins us this Thanksgiving weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss the Pilgrims’ story and what they believed and lived by. For in them we have an example for how we can live in our pilgrimage in a contrary world.

The dictionary defines theology as the study of God and religious belief. It may sound intellectual and academic but in reality everyone has beliefs about God and religion. The real question is whether those beliefs accurately represent God based on the standard—His inspired Word.

Every few years, Ligonier Ministries conducts The State of Theology survey, as they put it, “to take America’s theological temperature, revealing what people actually believe—both outside and inside the church. Our goal is to diagnose prominent errors and to prescribe the cure: the clear teaching of sound doctrine.”The State of Theology survey contains 35 statements that over 3000 Americans from all walks of life answer.

Dr. Stephen Nichols, chief academic officer at Ligonier Ministries and president of Reformation Bible College, joins us to discuss some of the key findings of the survey with regard to the evangelical church and the general public. Because the real point of theology is not just to study God but to know, love, and worship Him!

It’s America’s largest and most well-known city. It’s the financial center of the country and even the world for free markets. Twenty-four years ago, the most prominent buildings in the city—the World Trade Center—crumbled to the ground after Islamists hijacked commercial airplanes and flew them into the buildings, causing nearly 3000 deaths.

So how to explain that New York City just elected a Muslim socialist to be its mayor?

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is not moderate. He is anti-Israel at his core. And he’s anti-American—he is a self-identifying member of the Democratic Socialists of America, which opposes traditional American values of limited government, individual liberties, and free markets. In short, Mamdani is the personification of the “Red-Green Alliance,” the intersectional partnership of Communists and Islamists with the common goal of toppling America and Christianity.

The left won almost everywhere in the first election since President Trump entered the White House this past January. Virginians voted for a Democrat super-majority in their state. Seattle elected a Democrat Socialist for mayor and Minneapolis nearly did as well.

In a recent program, we discussed the rise of Islam in Western Europe and how the line may have been crossed for an Islamic future. But is the same thing happening in America, in places like New York City, Dearborn, Michigan, Minneapolis, and in Texas, where a large Islamic development is being proposed near Dallas?

Alex Newman, Christian author and journalist at Liberty Sentinel Media, joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss the rise of Islam in America and why it needs to be stopped. He will also discuss other events nationally and abroad, including the rise in political violence on the left and anti-Israel sentiment on the right.
