There have always been subversive people within the church and there always will be. One aspect of great neglect for far too many pastors today is not warning their churches about them. Whether the pastor doesn’t have the discernment to see error or whether he’s unwilling to be “negative,” the result is the same—Christians led astray “by smooth and flattering speech” (Romans 16:18).

In the week leading up to Easter, Christianity Today, led by editor-in-chief Russell Moore, published an article with the headline “Was Jesus Crucified with Nails?” The Bible is abundantly clear that He was (cf. John 20:25) so why let this article see the light of day?

The highest calling for Christians is to pursue holiness.

Scripture says this definitively, “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:14-16).

What hinders the pursuit of holiness, defined as Christ-likeness, is the opposite—worldliness. Worldliness is defined in Scripture as the sinful lusts and pride which the world around us relentlessly promotes:

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world” (1 John 2:16).

Not surprisingly, the fallen world ruled by Satan presents endless ways to draw us off the path of holiness and down the dead end of worldliness. And most problematic, there’s something inside us that is drawn to what the sinful world offers. It’s enjoyable. It causes us to laugh. It makes us feel “in.” It boosts our view of self. And it’s really not going to affect me, right?

Scott Aniol, Executive Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of G3 Ministries and Professor of Pastoral Theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss worldliness and how to identify and overcome it.

Early released program for Easter Weekend (April 19, 2025)

The prophets foretold Him. The gospels reveal Him. The epistles explain Him. All of Scripture exalts Him.

“Him” being Jesus Christ, the God-man who lived among us, was crucified by those He created, miraculously rose from the grave, and then ascended alive into heaven.

This is way beyond the “greatest story ever told”. Rather, Jesus Christ is the greatest One who ever lived. His crucifixion, burial, resurrection is the greatest, most significant event in human history.

Scripture also says, “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time” (1 Timothy 2:5).

This Easter weekend, we’re going to talk about “the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all”. We’ll examine the most detailed Old Testament prophecy about Him in Isaiah 53 and see how it was precisely fulfilled. We’ll also hear some of the most profound hymns about Christ’s sacrificial death for man.

We hope your Easter is made more meaningful as you listen to this special edition of The Christian Worldview.

There are lots of things that draw our time and thoughts away from the most important Person and event in history—Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection which took place nearly 2000 years ago in Jerusalem.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came from heaven, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life with the whole purpose of offering Himself on the cross to pay the death penalty for man’s sins against His Father. Why would He do this?

Consider Jesus in the days leading to His death on the cross. He knew when, where, and how He was going to suffer and die. Above all, He knew that His own Father would be pouring out His just wrath and justice on Him, the innocent One, for all the sins of all who would believe.

The gospel of Luke describes Jesus’ state on the night of His arrest as He was in the Garden of Gethsemane: “being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground” (Luke 22:44).

Agony, praying fervently, sweating blood. What? Didn’t Jesus just run through this unruffled like some superhero?

No He didn’t. His agony and His actions before His atoning death teach us a great deal about who He is and who believers are called to be.

Our guest this weekend is Travis Allen. Travis served our country in the US Navy as a member of the SEAL teams and is now the pastor of Grace Church in Greeley, CO. Travis gave a recent sermon series on “The Agony in the Garden,” explaining the deep suffering of Christ in the hours before He would bear His Father’s wrath for our sin on the cross.

We hope this program leading into Easter week, along with the April issue of The Christian Worldview Journal, which is scheduled to arrive this week, will help our hearts and minds more deeply appreciate and worship Christ for who He is—the Son of God and only Savior of mankind.

It’s been said that “Ideas have consequences and bad ideas have victims.”

Ideas are the causes of actions in the world, for better or for worse. And the Christian should know from God’s Word that sinful ideas come from unregenerate minds. Romans 8 says, “the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:7-8).

The depravity and death we see all around us in our culture, particularly millions of aborted babies, all manner of sexual and gender perversion, and suicide and euthanasia, are the direct result of ideas from minds that hate God and His truth and design.

As shown in a new documentary film titled The 1916 Project by executive producer Seth Gruber, the wicked lineage of this God-forsaking worldview in America is built block by block upon well-known names like evolutionist Charles Darwin, abortionist Margaret Sanger, and pervert Alfred Kinsey and many other lesser known influencers like Thomas Malthus, Francis Galton, Havelock Ellis, and Emma Goldman.

Gruber reveals how these men and women are the reason why abortion today is seen as “My body, my choice,” “love is love,” “gender is fluid,” and “children need to explore their sexuality at the youngest ages.”

CALIFORNIA UPDATE:

I mentioned on last week’s program that I would tell you more about our recent trip to Southern California, where our family received the “Family of the Year” award by the U.S. Tennis Association. In the opening segment of the program, I will recount some of the highlights, including a Christian Worldview Partner luncheon at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, along with visits to KKLA 99.5 FM (who broadcasts The Christian Worldview each Saturday at 8am) and Living Waters to see Ray Comfort and Co.

Later in the program, we will discuss the issue of judges ruling against President Trump’s executive orders. In the first 100 days of the Trump administration, Democrats have been staggering as Trump and his team execute a kind of blitzkrieg against liberal policies. But it was inevitable that the left would fight back and now their strategy is apparent—use leftist judges appointed by Obama and Biden to stymie Trump’s orders.

But do unelected judges really have the authority to overturn the orders of a nationally-elected president? Has Trump overstepped presidential authority when it comes to such things as cutting government spending and deporting those who entered our country illegally, including a Columbia graduate student who calls for the destruction of Israel?

Daniel Schmid, a constitutional attorney and Associate Vice President of Legal Affairs for Liberty Counsel, an international nonprofit, litigation, education, and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and the family, will join us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to discuss the showdown between the Trump administration and the third branch of government.

The Book of Proverbs was written to be profitable to all readers but is particularly directed to young men. One of the prominent exhortations and warnings for sons in Proverbs is on the issue of moral purity. Listen to Proverbs 5:18-23:

Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice in the wife of your youth.

As a loving hind and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
Be exhilarated always with her love.

For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress
And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord,
And He watches all his paths.

His own iniquities will capture the wicked,
And he will be held with the cords of his sin.

He will die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.

God wonderfully designed us with the ability to procreate and to enjoy the one-flesh dynamic of sexual intimacy within the one-man one-woman marriage covenant, all to His glory. But what God beautifully designed is what the devil, the world, and our flesh relentlessly corrupts. God says, “rejoice in the wife of your youth.” Satan says, “Do whatever you want with whomever you want.”

And the destruction that results from lust and pornography and fornication and adultery and homosexuality and every other kind of sexual sin are everywhere—bondage to sin, broken marriages, sexually transmitted diseases, and alienation from God. Because of the pull of sexual desire and the ubiquity of sexual sin, it’s common to conclude that God’s call for sexual purity—mentally and physically—is an impossible standard.

The Apostle Peter was inspired by God to write: “Be of sober spirit, be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished among your brethren who are in the world” (1 Peter 5:8-9).

The devil is the believer’s great adversary and he has a singular mission—to devour the Christian by tempting us to sin against God. Satan uses the fallen world and our sinful flesh to great effect. One of his favored means of destruction is corrupting God’s gift and design of sex for one-man one-woman marriage into a litany of perversions: fornication, adultery, lust, pornography, homosexuality, and more.

No, this calls for transformation of the heart and comprehensive preparation and plans of action, from being born again to pursuing sanctification to employing the supernatural resources God provides.

GUEST: JUSTIN PETERS, Evangelist and Speaker on the Word of Faith Movement

In just a short time in office, President Trump has made many right policy decisions that align with the Bible’s call for government and leaders to promote what is good and punish evil (Romans 13), such as ending governmental imposition of the sin of partiality with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) or the depraved transgender lie, along with a host of other policies that improve fiscal responsibility and national sovereignty over globalism.

Christians can cheer that a U-turn has been made away from godless Marxism. But the President’s choice of false teacher Paula White to head the White House Faith Office is another story.

Paula White is one of the prominent leaders in the Word of Faith movement, also known as the health, wealth, and prosperity gospel. This is a heretical movement that misrepresents God and His Word and leads millions of people away from the one and only saving gospel of Jesus Christ.

Justin Peters leads a ministry that has particular focus on exposing the false teaching and false teachers of the Word of Faith movement. His column in the soon-to-be-delivered March issue of The Christian Worldview Journal focuses on Trump’s pick of Paula White. He joins us this weekend on the radio program.

In the final segment of the program, Twila Brase of Citizens Council for Health Freedom, will inform us about the government’s push for a national ID card called “Real ID” that she is urging listeners to avoid and contact their legislators about.

The church, the body of true believers in Jesus Christ from every tribe and tongue, is called “the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15).

God began the church 50 days after the Passover on which Jesus was crucified, by sending His Holy Spirit to indwell and empower believers to do God’s will.

Ever since, despite relentless attempts to destroy or corrupt it, the church has unstoppably marched on as a witness to the saving and sanctifying power of God through His Son, His Spirit and His Word.

There is no category for a Christian to not be part of a local church. The example of first century believers was that their lives were centered around the church, as they gathered each week to worship God, fellowship with one another, pray, remember the Lord’s death and resurrection, and hear the preaching of God’s Word.

In short, the church is a top priority for God and needs to be for believers as well.

This week, pastor Ace Davis of Faith Bible Church (White Bear Lake, MN) will join us to discuss various aspects of the church in light of the session he will be teaching in June at The Overcomer Course for Young Adults titled “Engaging God’s Design in the Local Church.”
