I found this old piece this morning and it provides a few important reminders. Even before social media, cancel culture, and this whole mess, we’ve always had people come and go in our lives. Most do, actually. We grow together, and often we grow apart.

Very few are “lifetime” connections, and most are “reason” or “season” connections. It hurts sometimes when we learn that someone who we believed was the former end up being the latter.

Limit Breaking with Kyler Borthwick

Kyler and I recorded this episode the day after the Great Facebook and Instagram Outage of 2021, so it was natural to start there.

The conversation went from how it affected our days directly to what we as humanity could learn going forward. Also, what would happen if these big platforms suddenly went away? How would we reconnect? (we’re tribal and social animals, we would ultimately find a way.

We talked about how important the internet is not only for our social connection but in our day to day lives…using Uber as an example (who would have thought taking rides from strangers would be so profitable after what we learned as kids, but here we are).

How working in gig economies can show us what other entrepreneurial possibilities are there for us.

Whether we follow that path or we are happy in a current job or career path, we are ultimately selling our time, and we are becoming more aware of this and responding accordingly. That shift in mindset is beginning to shift the entire paradigm whether we are ready for it or not.

On this episode, we get to connect with Meagan Hopper, who is an amazing healer and all-around blast to hang out with. We got to learn about some of Meagan’s work which includes working with ceremonial cacao, and sharing what the process of the ceremony is about, as well as the experience of cacao itself.

We also discussed another modality Meagan works in, Auriculotherapy (study of the outside of the ear), the vast amount of pressure points on the outer ear that can provide relief all over the body when activated,  and how she uses vaccaria seeds in particular for providing that relief.

So there’s where the episode title came from.

We also talk about many other cool thing over the course of the episode, including

the experience of release in energy healing

the surprising things that can come through healing, especially as we learn to listen to our bodies

the real purpose of ego, shadow, whatever other names we use for them (note: they are not all bad-not at all!)
