We were delighted to have writer-director George Popov join us for our 100th episode! George is known for the critically acclaimed Indie horror film Hex (2017), The Droving (2020), and the atmospheric docuseries that captured our attention: SIDEWORLD. George talks with Kiki, Cord, and JC about the SIDEWORLD series of folklore, myth, and legend as a whole which now includes 'Haunted Forests of England', ' Terrors of the Sea', and 'Damnation Village'. Our featured music today is by Philadelphia band Flatwaves with their song "Mothman".
Today, we take on the infamous Crytpid, The Snallygaster with our special guest and DM of Kord v. Crytpid, Ben! The Snallygaster is a legendary cryptid that is said to inhabit the rural areas of Maryland, in the United States. The creature is described as a dragon-like beast with a long pointed beak, wings, and tentacles or octopus-like appendages. It has been reported to prey on livestock and humans alike and is said to emit a blood-curdling scream that can be heard from miles away. The legend of the Snallygaster dates back to the 18th century and has inspired countless sightings, hoaxes, and even a local beer named after the creature. Did you know that the Snallygaster was once used for political propaganda? Listen to find out what Kiki has unearthed in today's episode!
We are wrapping up our massacre series with the Paxton Boys Massacre.
The Paxton Boys were a group of vigilantes active in Pennsylvania during the 18th century, specifically in the 1760s. They were primarily of Scots-Irish origin and were angered by what they perceived as the inadequate protection of their settlements from Native American attacks by the colonial government. In December 1763, they carried out a violent massacre against the peaceful Conestoga Native American tribe and later attacked the Lancaster jail where Native Americans were being held for their protection. That jailhouse now serves as a theater and according to some, harbors the ghosts of those murdered as well as a beloved actress.
Our featured music in this episode is from SpellBook with their song " Rehmeyers Hollow".
In this episode, we welcome listener Kevin to our show with his first-hand accounts of the hauntings at Black Horse Tavern (Now The Iron Mule). We covered this site and the mafia hit that took place here in Episode One. Tying in with the Coal Country Mafia, we discussed a place that Kevin has explored before, Broad Mountain, and the grisly murder of a still-identified girl found there.
March has long been associated with one of the biggest betrayals in History: The Ides of March Assassination of Julius Caesar. So we thought it would be fitting to round out the month with two betrayals against our Native American people here in Pennsylvania: The Walking Purchase and the Kinzua Dam. One of these ties in with our episodes on the Gnadenhutten Massacre, The Battle of Bloody Brook, and The forthcoming Paxton Boys episode.

* Our featured music today is by Widow Rings with "Guillotine Baby".
I suppose you could call this our Very Special Episode. The topic of Gnadenhutten is apropos considering the Implicit Cultural Bias and Overt Racism that have come across our media screens this week. Kiki takes us on a journey to where it all started and gets into the down and dirty of how our country was founded on the manipulation of these biases that will ultimately lead to the most horrific massacre of the Revolutionary War.
* Our featured music today is from Gen and the Degenerates with their song " Runaway Blues".
The Bichshler Witch Diggers were a group of three siblings - Nick, Sam, and Susan Bischler - who lived in Indiana in the mid-19th century. The siblings claimed to be plagued by "witches" and became consumed with the idea that they were being haunted by them. This led to a period of monomania, during which the siblings dug a ditch so deep and wide that folks from around the farm, had no choice but to finally notice the mania. The story became a local legend, and the Bischler Witch Diggers are now remembered as an eerie example of the dangers of obsession and superstition. Is there anything paranormal to this story, or is this a case of mental instability brought on by PTSD and childhood trauma?
* Our featured music in this episode is Two Witches with " The Last Day".
Way back in episode 64, we discussed the Caged Graves in Catawissa, PA, and how those were most likely installed to keep out Resurrectionists from Ohio. Today we finally get to tell the tale of these brazen folks that caused so much consternation from Michigan all the way to Philadelphia.
Our featured music today is from Haldol with their song " Taphonomy".
