Modern Immigrant

Issac is originally from the USA and when he was only 3 months old his family decided to emigrate to Mexico. Yes! That's him as a baby in the picture with his mom right when they arrived to Mexico. In this episode you will learn how those first years of his life had such a strong impact on his future. He went back to the USA for a few years but always had the desire to go abroad and explore life in another country. It has been 10 years since he moved back to Mexico City and he shares with us some of the struggles that he has encountered, like the language barrier, not fitting in, dating life, loneliness and also the positive and wonderful things that he is discovering on his journey.

Doris pasó por muchos retos como inmigrante, tuvo que regresar a casa cuando su mamá se enfermó y luego usó todos sus ahorros por regresar a Seattle a perseguir sus sueños. Michael is originally from Germany and has been an immigrant in many different countries, from China to Colombia. He shares with us challenges and cultural shocks.  He also shares the things he has learned from each country and how he carries the experiences forward to every place he goes to. We talk about choosing to become an immigrant vs. having the need to flee your country and how that can impact your journey. Michael says that now he is a completely different person thanks to his immigration process, he sees the world in a different way, more open to experiences and connecting with people with different backgrounds. We also talk about how to overcome homesickness with some unique ideas!

A Yoss le ha tocado ser inmigrante en diferentes momentos de su vida, y bajo diferente circunstancias. In this episode Tony shares his journey of how he ended up moving to Seattle after his initial plan fell through due to Venezuela's currency and money policies at that time. Tony always had the desire and the “fire” within himself to travel and live abroad, but he did not know how hard it could be. After all of these years, he finally feels that things are working out and he is excited for all that is yet to come! He shares with us his struggles but also the ways to overcome them.
