Katie Sassani is a nationally registered Occupational Therapist who is licensed in the state of NC. She has been practicing occupational therapy (OT) for the last 6 years at an outpatient pediatric clinic. She has extra training in sensory processing, feeding, Autism, vision, and anxiety.

Her and her husband have a son almost 2 years old and are expecting a daughter this December. As a mom who's child is getting OT in school it was a pleasure talking with Katie and I appreciate this conversation so much!

Elizabeth Michalowicz is a new mom, physical therapist, and orthopedic certified specialist. She has experience in a variety of clinical settings, including pediatric outpatient and early intervention. She LOVES kids and is so excited to finally have one of her own. Elizabeth currently resides in Germany with her husband, infant daughter, dog, and 2 cats. She is beginning a new adventure as a work-from-home mom in a non-clinical PT role as a writer for a developing app.

We've all heard of Speech Therapy right? You may be like me and think you know what it's all about. Today I'm interviewing a SLP who specializes in pediatrics and early development: Kerri Bubar. Come with me as Kerri explains the ins and outs to speech pathology. What does it mean? How does it differ for kids? What can I do at home? We take a look at all of these questions and more. Kerri Bubar is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist. She received her Masters of Science in Education from Buffalo State College in 2018. Kerri has spent 3 years working with infants and toddlers through the Early Intervention and Committee on Preschool Special Education programs, as well as school-aged children and adults through outpatient clinic services. She has specialized in pediatric feeding and swallowing, while also providing speech, language, voice, and fluency therapy for children of varying ages. Kerri completed a research project while in graduate school, exploring speech and language intervention for immigrant/refugee children in the Buffalo, NY area. She presented this research locally, nationally, and internationally, and was published in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's publication, Perspectives. Most recently, Kerri started a new position working as a speech-language pathologist at Holland Central School District. Kerri is Buffalo born and raised and loves all things Buffalo, especially the Bills!

As moms we are doing all the things, right? Verbing all the time! We are hard wired to be there for our kids no matter what…but what if the unthinkable happens and you get the most devastating news: your child has cancer? It’s a mother worst nightmare and my friend Liz went through it with her son Liam. Today, Liz is sharing her story from how her mama gut was telling her “somethings wrong.” From how they as a family found out and went through with all the highs and lows of childhood cancer.

Brooke Weinstein OTD, OTR/L keeps it real about Mamahood, tips, and tricks to childhood development, and how to live in your mama truth. Brooke is a Doctor of occupational therapy. With over a decade of experience, Brooke built a thriving business in New Orleans called Therapeutic Learning Center which focused on treating the child and educating the entire family on coping skills and strategies on how to manage societal challenges children face.

With life experience, having two preemies, running a business (and household), Brooke began to feel the struggles of motherhood, being stretched too thin. This ultimately led to Brooke selling her business, stepping away to readjust her priorities, and focus more on her own family at home.

During this pause, Brooke went on an exploration of self, and dove into the “why” of her career burnout. The ah-ha moment came when she recognized the missing link between treating children, and parent education.

“We as mothers need support and guidance to get through this life. It’s simply too much to do on our own. Having support as a mother is what our children need most in this world to thrive.”

Brooke’s expertise in child development, sensory regulation, and parental connection, led Brooke to begin coaching Mama’s and families through this difficult phase of life. Brooke helps Mama’s tap into their individual strength, teach them how to trust their gut, and support growth in building emotional connections with their children and family they’ve always longed for.

“It’s ok to be vulnerable. Most importantly, it’s ok to allow yourself this support, because the family unit begins and ends with the mother.”
