House Republicans propose sweeping committee to review government's criminal investigations. The special panel would have authority to investigate how any part of the federal government collects and analyzes information on Americans, along with "ongoing criminal investigations" and civil liberties issues, according to the text of the resolution.  Democrats argue the panel puts "extremist politics into our justice system." 

Rep. Dan Crenshaw apologizes for calling anti-McCarthy GOP colleagues 'terrorists. "Things get heated and things get said," "Obviously, to the people who took offense by that, it's pretty obvious that it's meant as a turn of phrase. Crenshaw said.
