India is the largest global exporter of rice. Between 2012 and 2021, India accounted for 29.5% of the world’s rice exports by value – in the second-half of that period, its share had risen to 30.7%. But India has recently announced its intention to prohibit the export of 100% broken rice and to impose a 20% duty on the export of several other rice grades.
