‘One cannot but imagine how much the fiscus would have lost and whether such an amount would have been recoverable, had those vigilant and very upright senior officers at the UIF not pushed back,’ says Tebogo Khaas, chairperson of Public Interest SA.
‘It's a policy decision that we made a few years back that rail will become the backbone of public transport in the whole of the province and that in itself becomes a big issue,’ says Tshepo Kgobe, chief executive officer designate at the Gauteng Management Agency.
‘One of the issues that the Americans are going to be firm on this time around is around corruption because it's part of the conditions of the services that the government must be able to deal with corruption,’ says Dr Kingsley Makhubela, director at RiskRecon.
