This podcast highlights an abstract from ASPEN20 in which a study looking at trends of liver profiles, micronutrients, nutrition, and growth for pediatric intestinal failure patients undergoing intestinal rehabilitation while using a mixed oil intravenous lipid emulsion with the goal of providing up to 30% of parenteral nutrition calories from lipids. The study was successful in delivering up to 30% of calories from lipids, allowing a decrease in glucose infusion rate and an increase in concentration of kcals per hour reducing overall hours per day of TPN. No patient progressed to cholestasis and growth and development was supported.
