California is being slammed by a powerful winter storm that has dumped massive amounts of snow across the Sierra Nevada, triggering a avalanche near Castle Peak. Rescue teams are battling whiteout conditions, fierce winds, and treacherous terrain as they search for nine missing backcountry skiers. Six others have already been pulled from the snow, with some hospitalized.
