Chapter 1: The man who drove a rented van down a Toronto sidewalk, killing 10 people and injuring 16 others, is pleading not guilty on the grounds he is not criminally responsible for his actions.  The court has heard almost a week of testimony from psychiatrists on both sides.

Chapter 4: A remarkable figure in human rights here in BC has passed away.  Joe Arvay was a constitutional lawyer who played a pivotal role in the fight for medically assisted dying, and he leaves behind a rich legacy we want to talk about here with former premier, former federal health minister Ujjal Dosanjh.

Chapter 5: A controversial tax increase in Surrey is going ahead, in spite of strong opposition from members of council.  The $100 annual fee paid for every parcel of land in the city will jump to $300 as a result of the decision, something opponents are calling unfair since it disproportionately impacts people who are struggling financially.

Chapter 4: The cracks in our social safety net have never been more apparent than during this pandemic.  Being stuck at home is a lot different in a 500 square foot apartment than it is in a standalone home with a backyard.
