The church has been notoriously bad at dealing with sin. We tend to point fingers, or ignore wrong living all together. Paul has strong words in 1 Corinthians 5 for those who are in the church and living sinful lives without remorse – removal from the family. But is Paul calling the church to cancel people who won’t repent, or guide them to repentance?

It seems like our news is filled daily with stories of someone being cancelled. Another celebrity or high profile person is accused of a wrongdoing. A Christian stands up for their beliefs and is blasted on social media. With this “guilty until proven innocent” trend, where does the Christian stand? Do we stand against injustice and speak our minds against those who do wrong? Or do we stay in the shadows and avoid the topic? We will find in Colossians 3 that Paul shows us how to begin our approach to cancel culture: think eternally and not currently.
