Fantasy without concern

Why do adults shy away from "Kids" books? This was a quick listen and I did it almost all the way through in one sitting. It was enjoyable, funny and certainly did not have a care from the adult world. The settings are similar to today's world with DVDs. This book was funny and had me laughing out loud. Why do we stop allowing our brains to think the unreal and all the curious, silly possibilities? Is it because adults aren't supposed to be silly? Is it because we only think in terms of limiting our imaginations?

Garth Nix is a wonderful author and gives an afternoon a great break from adult, worldly thoughts.

Stig Wemyss is a fantastic narrator. I giggled a lot with his accent and character impersonations.

Adam Canfield is the star reporter/co-editor of his school newspaper The

Slash.The Slash was shut down and they're trying to put it out by them selves.

The last reporter is a story of adventure and a touch of romance through out the

whole book. you won't want to put it down from cover to cover. It's like a movie

in your mind, you can picture everything that the author explains in this number

one choice book.

I love this book and I think a lot of other people would like

it also. The characters are likable, and easy to relate to. This is a top book and

easily makes my top ten books. A reason I recommend this book for others is the

plot is clear and understandable. Winerip uses a clear writing style that is easy to

follow.

The twins smiting unbeliever with plastic swords was a bit far fetched.

The ending is rather abrupt and leaves some questions unanswered.

Hilarious

My boys have borrowed this audio from the library three times and it is just as funny every time. If you have kids who love adventure and silliness, this is the book for you. Jasper Dash and his friends, Lily and Katie, head off to help the monks that live on the mysterious mountain tops in the state of... Delaware. It is a land of spicy air, monks that fly and is ruled by an awful and adorable autarch.

We have listened to the earlier books and didn't like them nearly as much, although the sequel to this one is pretty good as well. Highly recommended as long as you bring your funny bone along.

Absolutely wonderful, funny spiffing tale!

A wonderful melange of parodies of Indiana Jones, Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew & the Hardy Boys. Very funnily, wittily written. The less I say the better. Go out and get this audiobook for the young smartypants in your household and for yourself as well. Enjoyable for all age 8 and up, I feel.

Elidor borrows from C. S. Lewis by imagining a group of children who find a portal to another world. The comparison ends, however, when that world is a borderline nightmare which follows the characters back to the world we all know. Drawing heavily on folkloric sources, this audiobook is appropriate for children, but interesting to any adult.

This is a great story but I wish the narrator had not attempted to impersonate children's voices - they really detracted from the magic of the story.

A great little book

I have fond memories of this book, having read it as a youth. I come from Manchester and know the areas mentioned in the box and I even remember the map signs that start the adventure off.

It's a faithful reproduction of the paper copy and it is well read.

The story is very atmospheric and it is one of my favourites. I have no hesitation in recommending this for all ages.

A low Fantasy Masterpiece

Far better than any of Alan Garner's other books. Vivid, exciting and wonderful. Works at several levels and

nostalgically evokes growing up in 1960s Manchester

love this book

a must read to escape real life

The whole family loves this book and series!

This is just an awesome book and series. It is hard to give it enough praise, but we have all read it multiple times. My 10 year old son refuses to stop reading the series from start to finish. Since purchasing this a few months ago he has read all 10 or so books 4-5 times through already. He always finds something new and interesting each time he reads it. For any fans of sci-fi and fantasy this is absolutely one of the best series we have ever read!

A prime example of the potential of an intricately designed fantasy world combined with well-developed characters.

Time Unraveled!

What a beautiful book! I'm not just talking illustrations here! I was thoroughly impressed by this author. I've read my share of time traveling... well... travelers when I came across the book series. The front cover was enough to make me stop and open it up. Boy was I glad that I did.

This story revolves around young Owen, he is a lonely kid, but suddenly he is trust into a world he doesn't know or understand, the Resisters, against the Harsh (a scary race of old-as-time cold 'brats')who are fighting for the very lives of humanity and time itself. If you've read the series you learn that Owen is the Navigator, the one who can pilot time.

As this story progresses, it's amazing how time is especially explained in a way I've never thought it could be. As if it is a vase ocean, and only one person has the map, Owen. It is a spectacular read, this book especially, though I wish there was more to come. It holds inside beautiful illustrations, as do all the books of the trilogy.

The only thing I can say about this book is WOW. I recommend this to anyone from the ages of twelve and up. It is a must buy, check-out, or 'borrow' from a friend book.

Best girls series ever!

Daughter LoVES this series & LOVED this book. Maybe didn't have as high rated reviews out there, but she thought it was amazing! These books are a life saver for kids looking for kindness and moral behavior in their friends. (She really wishes these girls were real!). & so do I!! Perfect for young teens. Particularly those not into dystopia, vampires, etc.

Real and endearing

I've always liked this series. Ever since I started it I couldn't get enough. The author seems to capture the perspective of these 12 year old girls very well. Their hopes, thoughts, choices and feelings were true and I should know, I am twelve. But anyways I recommend this series to girls ages 12-14. This is a great read.

C to the ool!

This book is really good. Someone in the BSG doesn't get invited to Julie Fabers birthday but nevermind that Maeve thinks she fails at math, a big exam comes up and she doesn't know how to handle this exam. This book is AMAZING!

I think this is a very good book that shows you about friendship and that being excluded can be for many reasons not just for not being popular.
