    Narrator matches my vision
Great series so far and since I thoroughly enjoy zombie/mi!itary/apocalypse , this author has it down for me.
liked it from beginning to end.
The narrator is perfect for the book. some audio books they screw up with choice of narrators my favorite is of course Scott Brick.
    why?
the narrator had the most God awful American
trying but utterly failing to impersonate a whole range of British accents.
    northern? utter failure
    London? utter failure
    Scottish? utter failure
    irish? oh my good God.
was there not one English guy anywhere in America who could have read a few words and not totally destroyed a good story

A Genjix scientist who defects to the other side holds the key to preventing bloodshed on an almost unimaginable scale.

If you read and liked the previous two, read this
Read: The Rebirths of Tao (book 3) by Wesley Chu.
I'll make this simple, if you read the previous two books in the trilogy and liked them, then read this. You won't be disappointed.
The next two paragraphs contain spoiler for the previous books.
The world is a very different place due to the events from book 2. Humans now know of the alien's Quasing existence and their influence on human history. The Tan family is running an underground railroad to shuttle refuge aliens and their hosts that are being hunted by the United States government. Despite this Roen and Jill try to give their teenage son a 'normal' childhood. But when your a host to Tao, are being trained as a martial arts master and secret agent, being normal ain't easy. He also has learnt know how to talk to girls.
It references side effect of Roen now being separated from Tao but I wished it explored it more. The teenage boy hitting puberty with a girl moments are eye rolling but Tao's observations adds humour making it not so bad.
More points of views than the previous books but narrow focus, no globe trotting. Staying to the family brings more emotional stakes and has touching father-son moments.
It a satisfying ending to the trilogy while leaving the door wide open for it to turn into a series. Still page turning, action thriller with bond like villains with evil master plans and lairs.
Great conclusion to one of my favorite trilogies
Wow. That's it. The last book for Roen Tan. Thankfully, this isn't the last book for Wesley Chu, and not even the last in this universe of alien-hosting humans and their not-so-secret war to save Earth. Thankfully-thankfully, this isn't even the last book Wesley will publish this year. Tor will release his next novel, Time Salvager, July 7, 2015.
Wesley was also recently nominated for the Campbell Award for best new writer. I have my Hugo nominees packet, but it will be hard pressed for one of the other nominees to outperform Wes.
Do you like spies? I do. Jason Bourne is a favorite. Imagine the next Bourne film started with him dying and loses the alien spirit that had taught him everything, from philosophy, to the ancient history of alien influence, to fighting, to you name it. The alien spirit, Tao, requires a human host to survive. It is late at night and Tao, a Prophus (the good guys of aliens), can't afford to be picky on its next host. A cab door opens up and an overweight computer programer throws up on the sidewalk.
    Poor Tao.

Good Conclusion, Could Have Been Longer
This was a good conclusion to the end of this series. The author actually left it in a good place to start an offshoot series if he wanted. I think we saw a lot of story elements we've been waiting for over the past two books, and I was happy with most of the story.
I think the internal mind battle between Cyrus and the "hidden enemy" was a little bit drawn out though...
My only real disappointment was the swift ending. After the final battle of the book, there is a measly 15 minutes to wrap up the story. I wanted to hear more about how the story ended! I would have made this at least an hour, but alas, I'm not an author...
I would definitely recommend this one, especially if you liked the other two. If you haven't read the other two, I would recommend going back and starting from the beginning, because otherwise your going to be lost.
    Happy listening!
    SERIES APPARENTLY ENDS HERE
    Any additional comments?
The story indicates it is still in progress. 2 1/2 years later & no further book in this series. Author, Vaughn Heppner has several other series in progress, some started after this book. I'm done buying his books till I see more of his series reach completion. It's like reading a book that is not complete, only to reach a page that says "Author gave up"
    the best, Vaughn heppner 4ever
the best, Vaughn heppner 4ever, all his books are staifying as expected, never been disappointed yet!!
    Slower than the 2nd book
As amazing as #2 was the 3rd one was so slow that there was times I thought I should just skip to the end. Last few chapters were great though! Damn Jeff Cummings you are a very talented narrator, amazing job!
    another good book
really good story following up where the previous books left off. if you haven't read the previous books I would highly recommend read/listening to those first.

    I hope there is a "book 3."
I feel like the first book really finally got good near the end. The second book just took off and ran from start to finish. I finished it in a day and a half. Beware of the Genesis Alliance!
    ONLY FOOLS RUSH IN
THE BOOK JUMPS RIGHT BACK INTO ACTION
AudioBookReviewer, states it plainly. This is action packed and that is all it is. A lot of listeners love to listen to people running around shooting, killing, hiding and running away. If you are one of those people than like some reviewers who have never meet a book they didn't love, you too will love this. Call me weird, but I like character development, lots of sciencey stuff and maybe a conspiracy theory. While book one has sciencey and conspiracy, this does not add anything new to book one. It didn't in the first four hours, which is all I could handle.
For me the journey through the Activation series ends here.
The activations continue...as does this journey...
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
In almost every instance, having an audiobook on the go is time well spent. This one is definitely no exception. Well drawn characters, excellent and interesting narration, and a plot that is entertaining. Well worth it.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
No real surprise. To be continued, so far as I can tell.
    Which scene was your favorite?
The city scenes are fascinating speculation.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Definitely, but it would need some aggressive editing.
    Any additional comments?
This book is worth the credit if nothing else but for the performance by James Langton, who is quickly becoming one of my favourite readers on Audible. This less of a story, and more of a journal of a journey, but however you want to describe it, it is well worth the investment of time and credit.
Great conclusion hope for a sequel
    Brilliant book, very well written.
Ends the current chapter, but leaves it open for possibly more books.
Nice to see a different take on the Zombie theme.

    HURRY UP BOOK #7!
If the next book in this series isn't out on Audible soon I will be forced... gasp... to READ it. It's THAT good. It's taking all of my self control not to "read' the next book in this series. These are THE best book about the apocalypse I have read. I can't get enough of them.
    FABULOUS ADDITION TO THE SERIES!!!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I totally would recommend this whole series!
What did you like best about this story?
That Adrian found his family! It was about time he got a break!
Which character as performed by James Foster was your favorite?
    Adrian of course!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    It definitely was!!!
    Any additional comments?
The only thing I ate about this book is that it is over now and I do not have audible credits to buy the last 2! *Throwing a fit* LOL I guess I will have to wait!
Super awesome addition to the series, we are getting closer and closer to what I suspect is going to be a final battle of sorts...I am super happy for Adrian that he was able to find some of his family, it was about time he got a little break...I am thrilled that I discovered this series and cant wait to finish it, even though I am going to have to for a bit...life is so unfair sometimes! lol
    I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Five Star Review Across the Board.
Chris Philbrook rocks. I LOVE this series of books, it ranks in my top five favorite zombie genre of all time.
The latest installment takes you further down the 'rabbit hole'. Adrian and friends feel like family at this point. It's good stuff and I can't wait for the next book to come out on Audible.
    Keeps Getting Better
Adrian's UnDead Diary-is one of the best series of books I've had the privilege of listening to. The author and narrator are a sublime combination. I feel emotionally vested in the lives of the characters. Each time Otis, the cat, is mentioned I can't help myself, I smile. The author, Chris Philbrook has penned intriguing characters. The narrator, James Foster brings the characters to life. Now the waiting game begins...I must wait for the release of Trinity (Adrian's Undead Diary Book 7) in audio format.
    Another great entry
I can't say enough good things about this series.

    Awesome
Awesome.. keeps the reader intrigued with all the different story lines and angles that all come together.
Familiar Themes (with lots of Treachery)
Greg Tremblay does a great job with the narration and Nick Webb is a skilled author who does a good job with action sequences. But I found this book frustrating. I know that negative reviews usually aren't very popular but at least writing this review will serve as therapy for me after listening to this audiobook.
This book (the second in the series) starts with the characters in tough spot. Then things get worse. Then they get even worse. About 90% of this book is a negative arc. A combination of diabolically clever enemies, treachery, and amazingly stupid and naive decisions by the main characters lead them into a deeper and deeper hole. Then the last 10% or so provides a breathless series of action sequences in which heroics and lucky coincidences save the main characters from apparently certain doom so that they can limp off and get into more trouble in the next book.
As others have pointed out, there is a strong Battlestar Galactia vibe, overconfident fighter jock personalities (male and female) and various counterpoints forming most of the personal interaction. And there is treachery everywhere, with the main characters being amazingly blind to it until it is too late.
I hoped that maybe the characters would learn something and that the third book would begin a positive arc toward a satisfying conclusion but it turned out to be more of the same - treachery, misunderstanding, and a continuing series of jumps from the frying pan into the fire. And the authors is apparently planning a long series instead of bringing the series to a close.
    Great continuing of the story
    Any additional comments?
    Audio edition, narrator Greg Tremblay.
    11 hours 17 minutes
    Overall: 4
    Performance: 5
    Story: 4
The story picks up right where #1 The Terran Gambit left off. I really enjoyed The Terran Gambit, and I did this one as well. It's twice as long as the first book, though, but it's packed with story and action.
This time the story takes place planet side as well, since things continues to go wrong for Captain Mercer and his crew. Characters are more fleshed out and there are several secondary plot lines in addition to the main one.
Tremblay continues to do a great job with the narration.

Good book but characters are racist and sexist
Provocative vision of a possible future. However - I was troubled by the racism and sexism in the book and couldn't tell how much of it was the author's biases and how much he was intentionally making the characters bigoted. Also, why is nobody using horses for transportation? This is never explained.
    Extremely boring...
I kept waiting for the story line to pick up the pace, but it never did. The plot is definitely interesting, but the characters and story telling is dry.
    Needs 6 stars
This book redefines great sci-fi, it is a great story and good literature. It has lots of ringing truths and it punches through similar books with a rich inner life expressed in terms of the New World lost in the ruins of the old.
    Yay
I really love it when I discover an audio book that can hold my interest. It's always a combination of a good story, delightful prose that inspire me to pause, replay, and dwell on the insight of the author, and a really good narrator that 1.) does not annoy me, 2.) does not bore me, and 3.) has developed good and distinctive voices for the characters
This book has all of those. I'm moving on to book 2. Yay!!!
    I don't recommend this narrator
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The story didn't progress nearly as much as I expected. The narrator is as close to monotone as a narrator can be. I was very excited for this series when I started but I will not be continuing with it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Kim Stanley Robinson again?
    No
Would you be willing to try another one of Stefan Rudnickis performances?
    No
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    No

Meet U. - a corporate anthropologist secreted in the basement of a large consultancy. U. spends his time toiling away at a great, epoch-defining public project that no one, least of all its own creators, understands. Besieged by data, confronted at every turn by the fact of his own redundancy, U. grows obsessed with the images - oil spills, Rollerbladers heading nowhere over streets that revolutionaries once tore up, zombies on parade - that the world and all its veil-like screens bombard him with on a daily basis. Is there a plot at work behind the veil? Is it buffering a portal to the technological divine? Who killed the parachutist in the news? And what's this got to do with South Pacific cargo cults? U.'s disconnected notes from underground in fact amount to an impassioned, integrated vision - of disintegration. Satin Island is a book that captures our out-of-joint times like no other.

A glossy weft surface but a dull warped back.
I'm going to bounce back and forth between three and four stars on this one. When McCarthy is writing about things and dancing through data, symbols, fabrics, etc his prose reminds me of William Gibson and his Blue Ant trilogy. He has a way of organizing chaos or at least describing the chaos in a way that allows the reader to float and sometimes surf his text. When McCarthy is writing about place and people he reminds me a bit of J.G. Ballard (especially books like Crash and Super-Cannes). He creates an ambiant zone of transgressive urgency that is as smooth as Brian Eno pissing into Duchamp's little fountain.
But dear Lord, just skip the sections when he writes dialogue. They hurt. They feel like I was dropped from some lush avant-garden to some backwoods, underwatered, status of woe. Cotton-mouthed, McCarthy writes conversations that would be better dressed in most YA fan fiction. OK. Perhaps, I've gone too far, but seriously, the dialogue needed a bit of work. Other than that, it was a good book and didn't scare me away from reading more of Tom McCarthy
    Pynchon-esque
I loved this novel until very end. Not to say the end wasn't in keeping with the style and theme of the novel but I needed something a bit more and I can't even say for sure what that might be. In many respects it is very much a modern novel like Crying of Lot 49 etc. in which many details are presented to protagonist and reader and you make connections that may or may not be there or lead where you think. I don't know exactly what it is about ending that bothers me and it may be that I got too caught up in what I had decyphered as the purpose/meaning of the novel and I tripped myself up. I may try it again and I have Langton's Remainder to do on a friend's recommendation and he really loved both of them, and I may also after another go. As I said I totally loved it right to very end.
An examination of recursivity AS theme
Meaning and meaninglessness are examined in beautiful prose, using the thin veil of a storyline.
Paint dries at a more rapid and exciting pace than this book.
I have never heard so many words used to not tell a story. It was like sitting in a very long and drawn out meeting that went nowhere and solved nothing.
    intriguing story. well read
I don't like books that play with emotions. Tom McCarthy focuses on rational, objective insight, and he does well with it!

This new world post bioengineering terrorism is very interesting and has a lot of potential. But the plague doesn't make sense, it is a little bit over the top, I am not sure the author is interested in the 'science' part.
The character development of detective Cassandra Lee ( very much acting as a Lone Wolf " need to be polish. Nothing make her attractive or lovable.
The bone breaker character is an interesting.
This audiobook is for a light listening time and quick consumption.
    Excellent new Series
I highly recommend this book as the start of a new series.
It is both well written and directed, the storyline is fast paced and, if not completely original, it's a new take on an idea that's been around before. (Mutated and non- mutated humans sharing a world.)
I really like Cassandra, a truly strong female character who doesn't act like a man or like a good little girl but is a fully functioning female Police Officer in this world. I'm looking forward to seeing her again soon!!
Note I almost Never give 5 stars.
    Great series - Mutant Files
RED ZONE-DEAD EYE & GRAVE YARD were great. Mutant file was incredible. Christina Delaine has my vote for best narrator. She was able to move between characters all the while giving the impression that there were other people narrating with her. It was great. Keep it up Bill/Christina.
    very enjoyable
a lot of twists in this book. Lee is a very strong character who is deeply troubled but that just makes her all the more likable due to her attitude. easy to get into fast.
    Good overall story
Enjoyed the story. Some of the science and forensics listed seem questionable. Plays with the reader / listeners emotions. Good performance.

"Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying." (Arthur C. Clarke)
Book one in the Wings of Steele series, Destination Unknown is an epic science-fiction adventure that reaches from the surface of our familiar planet and the safety of terra firma to the dark, vast expanse of deep space and distant star systems.
Jack Steele is an ex-big-city cop that left the department after losing a friend in the line of duty. Recovering from a tough divorce, he reinvents himself with a love of flying and restructures his life as a pilot for hire. Accompanied by his ever-present German Shepherd, Fritz, Jack will fly almost anything anywhere, shuttling new and used planes for clients all over the world.
He had never been a Boy Scout, but he is a man who likes to stay prepared and in control of whatever life throws at him. But nothing could have prepared Jack and his copilot for how life suddenly goes drastically and violently sideways, in a direction and magnitude that no one could have ever anticipated. Wanted men, it seems, like everyone on the planet, are hunting them, and their only option is to run...but to where?

Lots of Action, But a Little 'Comic Book-ish"
I'm torn in two directions with this book...
One one hand, it was very entertaining and kept my attention the entire time.
On the other hand, there were too many loose strings, unexplained holes, and unrealistic characters and events then I would generally prefer in any story.
The story follows a former police officer turned pilot. In the wake of a recent messy divorce, he makes a new life and successful career for himself as an independent pilot. While on a trip to deliver a WWII plane to a movie set, he is... well, abducted by aliens. With him is his dog, his co-pilot partner, two naval pilots, and a covert US intelligence operative. The latter three characters are a long story, but the short version is that there were some snags in the plan to deliver the plane, and the two navy pilots were chasing them...
Post-Abduction, the five find out that they are on a luxury alien cruise ship, and that it will be some time (possibly years) before they can return to earth. They decide to make a life for themselves as pilots. After defending the cruise ship from a pilot attack, they take the ship and fighters as their own and decide to continue as something like galactic navy pirate hunters.
As I said I really did enjoy listening to it, but the story just has too many problems to be considered a good book. Lets lay some of them out...
The characters are very one dimensional. The main female character (supposedly a covert US intelligence officer, and assumed to be a rather smart person) has the attitude, mentality, and emotions of a two-year old child.
Some of the technology is believable, but some things seem closer to magic than something you'd find in a Science Fiction book.
There are waaaay to many holes in the story, or things that are just never explained properly, such as how the planes actually got on the ship and why several days passed before they realized it. There is also an entire sub-story back on earth with everyone looking for the missing planes that is very unbelievable.
