In this week's episode, Alyce and Crystal have a conversation with Melissa Herriott founder and owner of M.Herriott Designs, a Charlotte-based firm that specializing in custom artwork and home design.
Melissa, a long time friend of Crystal, shares her experience with grief around a change within her self identify. As well as personal grief losses that she experienced in the midst of the 2020 pandemic.
Follow along as Melissa shares how the story of her career shift to entrepreneurship and a successful business venture was based in a complete identity shift that happened from an earth shattering loss. Losing her younger cousin, a brother and twin flame to her, who battled with cancer.
While she struggled with that idea of him dying and the fact that he did not deserve that, she also lost her step dad, who came into her life at 19 years old until she was in her 30s. And while she was not lacking a father figure or a father-daughter relationship, she was calloused to her step dad's love. It wasn't until his passing that she realized how deeply he loved her.
The three discuss how they have felt in disbelief that this person, who they each personally loss, is no longer on the earth side. And the feeling of your world stopping in its tracks but everyone else keeps on going.
